Buck 119 & 110 in 5160 steel should be interesting

I ordered one of each yesterday. The opportunity to get a couple of these was worth the risk to me. I figure I have the auction site and Paypal to cover me if this isn't legit. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well I have to each my words. They are authentic Buck knives. They should really do a better job with pictures and everything to leave no doubt in people's minds but that's their business.

Eric, how did you get confirmation? Just curious. I figured I had a 50/50 shot of this being legit. I'm excited if they really are!

I asked the owner here and he contacted one of our reps from Buck because he thought they were fishy looking too. They said they were legit so I'll be looking forward to the reviews once guys start getting them. The steel choice is interesting for a 110.

That is good to know Eric. Thanks for the follow up on it. Their pictures left a lot to be desired, and their very brief reply to my question left me suspect.
I agree it is an odd choice for steel. Not a bad one though.

Thanks for digging into this Eric! I might have to get one once we see the real thing with some reviews here. I may just have to do a case hardened patina on one.

Is this the first foray for Buck into making a popular model of theirs in non-stainless blades? I guess I'm surprised they would as I'm guessing it isn't a steel they keep on hand as every model is using some form of stainless.

Myself - it's just not for me as I prefer stainless blades, but I know carbon is popular with many users. Perhaps Buck is also using this to test the waters to gauge consumer interest in their popular model done in carbon?

Buck currently shows the Thug, Hoodlum, Punk and Matt Would Go models as using 5160 steel so they have the steel available.

AG, gotcha. Thanks for posting that. I hadn't bothered to look as I was just assuming, which proves the old adage about assuming...lol.

so this is for real? they are 119s in 5160 steel on the ''Evil'' site??? can someone PM me the link to them oh please oh please?

You can do it yourself. Just go the evil site and do a search under "119 5160". (Don't forget the space.)

The Compadre Series 104 Camp Knife, 106 Camp Axe, and 108 Froe are 5160 also. I've been using a Froe doing some land clearing and the edge has held up really well.

Guys, these are the real deal.
The satin finished 5160 steal has gone through humidity chamber testing and the results were great.
They do need to take their own pictures as some of the photos were early Photoshop renditions from us.
DLT trading has done a great job representing the product they are selling.

These seemed fairly special as far as Buck 110 history and the carbon steel, so I had to get one………………………………………………………………………………..of each. :)
