i think they are nicer than the later rosewood models

...I'm thinkin' "older and longer" Trax...

...oops ol' "Snaggletooth" beat me...LOL...:p

Definitely the older and longer version. Looks like a nice knife. I also like the Micarta, both the black and the burgundy.

Hi trax,

That is one of the older 124's and a very nice one at that. Take a look at your BCCI news letter from Dec 06; Joe Houser did a nice article on all of the older 122/124's....take a look at it, and you will be able to put a date on that 124. Buy it......you will love it.....it will fit in with your 120's.

I recently posted this photo in another thread here. Not only is the handle significantly larger, so is the guard. The older 124's are really a nice knife. I wish they still made them that way.

Ah, now I see! Thank You, gentlemen! :D

The newer model seems to have the split guard w/spacer, as well as a second spacer at the pommel. And it has the rivets. Is that correct???

I do like the older ones, with the more proportionate grip-to-blade size. And the black Micarta is one of my favorites.

There seems to be several of these available right now. I hope this one finds a good home. ;)

(Time limit was met. Thank You!)

hi mike
do you have one of last years stag le's you can compare with the new chipflint from this year ?
somewhere on here i read someone said the handle is larger on the chipflint than on the stag

I think Scott's photos show that the size of the handle is the same on both the chipflint and stag handled 124 LE's

thanks for the pics scott and mike nice job
and yeah i would say they are the same size
so as much as i like the chipflint i dont think i will be getting one , but now that top phenolic one in scotts pic would be sweet  :D

"Next hour and 12 minutes?"??
I'm guessing that was an auction?
Chawin?

The newer 124's have shorter handles, but they are still great knives. I'm glad I picked up the chipflint 124. I think it looks really nice. Although the handle is shorter, it still fits my hand (barely). :o

The links that Trax provided showed the older 124 with two different sheaths. Does anyone know which one came first, when they switched, etc.?
