Buck 124's comparison photo???

I was watching that auction, what a steal! You just don't see too many with the white teflon spacer anymore. It probably would have gone higher with the correct sheath.

That I have to agree with. If I only had the money....LOL...I would have bid more...Oh well...would have......should have.....but, could not:( . Maybe next time:D .

...But Trax is not a collector... ;)

Trax just wanted the long grip with full tang. And black linen Micarta. :D :thumbup:

Oh come on trax;

That 124 you just got did not give you the 124 bug?????? It will brother, believe me:p .

Well if he didn't I did. After I got an early 80's 124 with black micarta handle I'm hooked. Now I'm looking for the all elusive maroon micarta 124. :o

LOL.....me too.....looking for that elusive red head...or...a handle. I had one and traded it to a friend when I was a kid. If only I knew that one day it would be a rare model. Now if I ever find one it will cost me about fifteen times what I paid for the first one :eek: :foot: . The search continues......now if that was the maroon one I'd have bid anyway's.....and asked for forgiveness later:o :rolleyes: ;) .

the 124 is the main reason i could become FixeD
i have 2 and want more...
have only not bid on many as buying folders..
tough choices real tough

John, what did you trade it for and do you still have that item?

Well Goose,

I traded it for a ring.....the ring was for a little gal....that gal is long gone...like the 124 :o . Funny thing.....I miss the knife and want another......I dont miss the little gal ;) .

Speaking of red micarta, I am doing the "official" :rolleyes: data sheet for the 401/402 and was able to find original blueprints for those models from 1977. They show the change from black micarta to Pakkawood, aka fibron, aka bulletproof laminate, but it never even mentions red micarta. I really think it was just a here today, gone tomorrow kind of change that did not warrant a print note. My guess is that this will hold true for all others models that used micarta, including the 124, so I will search for those prints.
Makes the prospect of actually finding one in red a little more bleak I suppose....Sorry JB! ;)

some time ago i seen some images of a 124
with a 120 type of grind rather then the stright
who has them?

hkingdom -

That is quite interesting...was the blade shortened as well as re-profiled??? The blade/grip ratio makes it look shorter... :confused:

Looks good!!! :) :thumbup:

The blade did get shorter in the process. It does make an interesting knife. I'm not sure how good a user it would be.

Dave, Could it be this one?

YES!
thats the verry one i seen and have been dreaming of....:)
i heard it through the grape vines that there were ...
ugh ... 3 or 4 made like that ...late 70's-> late 80's:confused:
