Buck 194/195 & 694/695 Alpha Hunter.

Can’t say i have. I just see it like in the case of my beloved Kalinga. I saw the folding Kalinga Pro and thought it would be cool. I got it and well just not that excited about it.

Yep, I hear ya. I also do not like the folding Kalinga. It's like a folding machete just to big (at least to me).

Ok did some research. The Alpha Hunter fixed blade ran 2002-2013.

2003-04 the 194 had standard blade and rosewood scales. 693WA gut hook and walnut scales and 694WA( the one i just purchased) standard blade walnut scales.
693BK GH 694BK Std both with rubber scales.

In 2011 Buck had two models 193/194 with rosewood and 12c27mod skanvik steel and the 693/694 both with rubber and 420hc.

The last year 2013 they only offered rosewood. The 193/194 were S30V and the 693/694 were 420hc.

I think they were discontinued and replaced by the Omni Hunter(closest style) or Open Season series of knives.
Will go back to the Buck historical catalogs to see if I remembered this correctly.

*Special thanks to the Buck Collectors Club for the information found on their catalogs the archive there. You’re awesome!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I never said anything about steel until i mentioned the 2011 and the 2013 info in that year’s catalog. I am aware of the Ats-34 on the early AH’s

I plan on doing a more in depth research studying the year to year changes.
Based on this new acquisition i will definitely be interested in buying one or two more.
Guess what knife will be on my belt tomorrow when we travel to do some shopping?

I got very lucky. It really is an awesome knife.
All started when my Cop friend in GA found one 694 with rubber handle and asked me about it on an un knife related forum. What was it and where can i get a sheath for it? Of course i came to this forum for answers and never saw the rabbit hole until i fell in head first.
Nylon is good but this image.jpgone really needs the leather sheath but all out of stock. I’ll keep looking.

David,

Have you ever had one of the folders in your hand? Their action is as smooth as butter, the best action of any manual folding knife I have ever used.
This post has been in the back of my mind ever since you posted it. While looking for a 194/694 i will definitely keep an open mind on the 277 and the other AH folders.

Was looking at this one on the Bay and couldn’t make out the date of production? Seemed it could be a 2018-21 Seemed odd so I emailed the seller. It is indeed a 2021. I guess that seems to indicate that a sprint run or even bring them back is possible? Certainly should be open for a custom build? What say you?

bertl bertl and GPyro GPyro those are awesome examples of what has become my favorite Fixed Buck!
I seem to be able to make out that some are recent production I assume some are special custom order examples. I hope i can have buck make one for me? Come on Buck!
As a side i am more apt to enjoy looking for a few older original models. Rubber handle is on my radar!
What attracts me are the look/design and it feels so nice in the hand! Many thanks to whoever designed it.
