I got this at WallyWorld the other day, I can't find anything about them, even e-mailed Buck with no response? We have 4 supercenters within a 20 mile radius and only one had these and I bought both. They feel good in the hand and are heavier than they look. The handle material maybe aluminum or stainless and they have a date code of 2016. These were not on display, they were under the display stand and I had the girl look for knives and she came up with these. I think they would make a great carry knife with a removable clip on the back. CLICK on image too ENLARGE.

Yes. I can't find the old thread right now, but this is a Walmart exclusive. A buyer from WM is a member here and talked about this knife a few months ago.

There is a similar knife on Bucks website listed as a 710.

black blade red handle. However it says that it is currently unavailable.

Looks like a poor mans folding Kalinga.

Need to take a ride in the am, with that and the Mesa out there I need to see if my local store has either in stock.

How right you are:

Stylish, smooth, and lightweight! The unique upswept blade on the 710 Volt was inspired by the popular Buck Kalinga. This easy one-hand opening knife features a black oxide coated, 420HC steel blade with one hand opening capability an d astylish red anodized aluminum handle. The lightweight design reduces weight while the contoured handle includes a grip texture inlay to fit comfortably in your hand. The mid lock design ensures safe use. Made in the USA.BLADE SHAPE:SkinnerBLADE THICKNESS:0.110"BLADE LENGTH:3 1/4"WEIGHT:2.8 oz. (79.7 g)HANDLE:AluminumCARRY SYSTEM:Pocket ClipORIGIN:Made In The USAAVAILABLE FEATURES AND OPTIONS

ONE HANDED OPENING

Has a thumb stud, blade hole or other feature to facilitate one-hand use. Some models are one-hand opening and one-hand closing as well..

420HC STEEL

This is Buck's standard blade material because it approaches the wear resistance of high carbon alloys while delivering the corrosion resistance of chromium stainless steels. Add our exclusive heat-treat process and you have a very user-friendly combination of superior corrosion resistance with excellent strength for wear resistance and durability. You also have a blade that is easy to resharpen. For best performance we harden to a Rockwell hardness of Rc 58.

SKINNER

Best suited for skinning game. The tip is narrow, while the wide curved belly gives a nice skinning sweep that aids in get*ting through thick layers. The downward angled, more blunt point makes it harder to make an accidental slice through the hide.

KnifeCenter says the 710 Volt available after the first of the year:

I saw them at Walmart this weekend. Looks like yours came in a box but the ones I saw were in blister packs. They were 420HC, labeled 715 Ascend LT and made in the USA. There was no sticker price but I may go back this week and have them do a price check.

I tried three Walmart stores over the weekend, no luck. I've tried this before a few times, our stores apparently do not participate in these special runs.

Every Walmart that carries knives will have it, $29.88. All stores should have received them by now, but only the enthusiastic ones will have them displayed.

This knife was the product of a brainstorming session that I had with CJ and the rest of the Buck team around 9-10 months ago. I told them that I wanted the blade shape of a Kalinga in a USA made folding knife with an anodized aluminum handle. This was the first rendition I saw and I figure they knocked it out of the park on the first try.

The 710 Volt is extremely similar. I love it too but I'm partial to the Ascend LT.

Well I went back to Walmart and bought the 715. There was only one left on the shelf. I carried it all day yesterday and put it to some light use. I have mixed feelings about this one. I love the Kalinga but this a different knife.

Pros:
- Anodized blue looks really handsome.
- I'm not a fan of aluminum scales but this actually feels good in the hand.
- Swedge on blade is well done.
- Pocket clip allows for easy carry and tucks away nicely.
- Lightweight

Now there were a few things I really did not like. Some I feel are completely unacceptable and I have pictures below. The tip of the blade came almost blunt. I've owned a lot of Buck knives over the years and never seen one like this. It's like a damn butter knife at the tip. The other thing was that after carrying all day yesterday I noticed at the end of the day that the blue is starting to flake off in some areas. I don't know what kind of paint is being used but this could be a problem down the road. It's showing up as little flake dots that you can see under the lock back and appears on several areas (both sides). I'm sure will flake even more over time/use.

Cons:
- Paint starting to flake after only one day of carry
- Factory edge came with blunt tip
- Thumb hole on blade is too narrow and not easy to deploy. A thumb stud would have been better.

I like the knife but after using I am trying to figure out what exactly it is trying to be. It seems rushed. It could be a great skinning knife (like the Kalinga) but it's designed more as an EDC. Could be a good EDC but the blade shape isn't as useful for everyday cutting.

Are the red and blue versions of this basically the same knife in different colors? Are they the same size and dimensions?
Thanks. Kind of liking the looks of those, I'll have to check out my Walmart this weekend.

Looking at the pictures above of the 710 I would say they are similar but different. Handle shape is slightly different on both of them (look at where the finger guard is and the end of the handle). They both use a different clip design too. The 710 has some sort of inlay on the handle and the 715 is completely aluminum.

Two hidden under the counter. I love this thin light knife. And for the price it's a great deal 28.99.

Great value is what this knife is about. Solid, thin, sharp, nice grippy texture finish. I'll use this to see if the finish is durable.

Hole isn't as easy to use but works fine.

On what planet is it normal to hide products from customers? This makes no sense to me!

I don't want to rant, but I spent a lot of time (and gas) looking for last years white handle 877 Maverick, before finding one at a knife show. I've been diligently looking for this new knife, an orange handle 857 El Morro and a 632 Mesa. I've gone to several stores, several times and talked to several employees. They look at me like I have two heads. I swear someone must have a side business selling Buck knives and 22 LR ammo out of a truck in the parking lot.

Sorry about that. I really like the new knives and I"m enjoying the pictures.

Hey shack.....Ummm I got these here knives and uh...:D

Mike; is the blade spine really ground thinner in the center than at the tip??? Interesting....

Anyone else having issues with the anodized finish? After 2 days of carrying/working with the 715 it's flaking in some areas and I found out it scratches up pretty badly. Yesterday it somehow got scratched up near the finger guard and some of that paint is starting to rub out. Maybe I'm not use to having an aluminum handled knife, or maybe I got a bad batch. Just didn't realize how finicky it is.
