Buck 715 Has anyone else seen these?

Talking with the sporting goods manager at the local place and their inventory system automatically reorders when items sell out of stock. Replacement can take as little as one week or as long as two weeks unless the manufacturer cannot keep up with demand...

Two 632s, in blister packs, were in the locked glass knife display case.

Two 715s, also in blister packs, were under the counter (along with other knives, some Buck knives, but no other NEW Buck knives) waiting patiently in a brown cardboard box for its too early to amble on by and decrease the inventory in that neck of the woods.

Can he get the wally worlds to be consistent and have all of them carry the specials or do the just throw darts?

There are 3800 Supercenters. There isn't a one size fits all approach to assortment in that many stores. Everything is extremely data driven.

i like the blade shape, reminds me of a brend 2 sort of. i dislike the handle styling...with the crease in it. for the money it looks like a winner...usa made, 420hc steel....only wish they changed the scales and made it bigger. i don't have lots of uses for a folder that small myself.

So in english data driven is = to profits. My "super center" carries no Bucks. Data driven is b.s. it is lack of inventory control and management talent. It's nothing but math and common sense, wait that doesn't equal highest profit. Seriously sell it to the lemmings.

Can anyone tell me what the lock up is like on these? I've always wanted the Walmart Spitfire, but I heard they have terrible lock up.

Mine is good, pretty solid. No movement side to side. Just a tiny amount of lock rock which I have come to expect. Not near as bad as the spitfire.

There is no supercenter format that is planned without Buck Knives. By data driven I mean that some stores will have 70+ knife SKUs while some might have 35. Each buyer is competing for space inside the box, and it runs out fast. It doesn't matter how much I like knives or how well I think they'll sell - sometimes coolers and sleeping bags just sell better.

The greatest inventory control and replenishment system in the world (which Walmart has) cannot stand up to poor in-store execution. Don't even get me started. It takes longer to get product from the back room to the floor than it does from the supplier to the store.

I've purchased 3 I've the years and all have a lot of lock rock. It's too bad because the Slimline gets so many other things so right. Sort of like having a really great car that's out of alignment and pulling hard to the left.

If Buck could sort out the lock up issue it would among the best value knives out there.

anyone know if these 715 are in any central florida or big bend area walmarts? i kinda want one to try out and use, even though it's smaller than i normally like blade wise. thanks y'all.

I know this may be crazy talk for some...

BUT

Would the 715 be a candidate for a "wave opening" modification?

After reading this you guys made me go out and get an Ascend! Nice knife. Mine is tight, and the point if fine....No issues!

That is funny you saying that, blaming "you guys", just now tom19176. Hilarious. Because I couldn't find anyone to point the finger at for all of it and since you joined after me, well uh hm, I can't collar you very well can I now... :). :D

The whole truth and nothing but the truth is I am having more fun than you can shake a stick at. Thank you a million times members and emw479 may you live a thousand years!

They have them in my local one in Ocoee, which is west of Orlando. I can't say for sure if any others in central Florida have them.

It looks like a cool design, but I think the missed the boat by not having the pocket clip be reversible. Would have been a comeplety ambidextrous design.

I had to blame someone Oregon! I actually remember seeing these awhile back and passing on them, but after reading about them I had to get one! Blade Forums has made me get so many knives I would never had otherwise picked up!

Thanks. I know ocoee. Gonna have to make a trip down there.

I got this knife, the 715, today. Got the Maverick last year. It's great finding these knives. Hope to get more.

I've been carrying mine since I started this thread and I have no issue's with regards to scratches or paint chipping. The blade has always been as sharp as I want it, you can only carry so many band-aides with you!HA! The best thing is you don't even know that you're carrying it.

We managed to find 4 of the 715 scattered around town.

No luck finding any in my neck of the woods either...........
Huge super center here but their sporting goods section isn't up to par. Often many blank spaces in the knife section for some reason.
