Buck 715 Has anyone else seen these?

On what planet is it normal to hide products from customers? This makes no sense to me!

I don't want to rant, but I spent a lot of time (and gas) looking for last years white handle 877 Maverick, before finding one at a knife show. I've been diligently looking for this new knife, an orange handle 857 El Morro and a 632 Mesa. I've gone to several stores, several times and talked to several employees. They look at me like I have two heads. I swear someone must have a side business selling Buck knives and 22 LR ammo out of a truck in the parking lot.

Sorry about that. I really like the new knives and I"m enjoying the pictures.

Shack - Walmart has a product reset calendar that runs by department. Suppliers are supposed to have product to stores between 1-2 weeks prior to reset date, or else they get charged. Good department managers will keep up with new stuff coming in and use it to fill holes even before it's technically supposed to be on the floor.

This coming Tuesday is the official reset date. If you want, PM me your location and I'll tell you which stores nearby should have the three knives you're looking for.

Spokane but travel thru montana alot. Same three listed

O.K. The official word from Buck; WallyWorld exclusive, aluminum handle--blue only, lockback, pocket clip--not reversable, modified clip blade 420hc. I just received this today @ 9:18am PDT.

FYI- I believe emw479 is one of the purchasers at WM. His responses have been quite reliable. If you can get his attention, that is :D

He is THE knife buyer. He is a rain maker/game changer. One of us but with power to control the end product we find on the shelf or online. A creative genius that walks the earth like a giant in the cutlery industry IMHO. We are lucky to have him visit this forum. Tell him what you want. You might just get it if it can pass his manager's review process. However, he already knows...

Oregon you're too kind. I'm actually buying all sporting goods for samsclub.com now. Walmart still cuts the checks, but I get a little more artistic license now than I did buying for WM stores. Here's a taste of what you'll see from me during the holidays: http://m.imgur.com/FoWQa0q

Ever seen a 110 with cocobolo scales?

EXCITED to see and get that! Are they planned to be sold as a set?

Next year... Same thing in nickle silver please?

emw479,

Since your following this thread closely, have you ever considered collaborating with Buck on a Walmart exclusive 110 as a regular item in the same way that other large retailers do?

My recommendations...
- 420HC blade
- Bolsterless construction with synthetic scales (Paperstone or G10) and full liners.
- Thinner handle (13mm) to allow for easier pocket carry and no finger grooves.
- Nylon sheath
- Price competitive with the standard 110

Thanks for keeping Buck knives in your stores. It's a great thing to know I can walk into nearl any Walmart in the nation and find a 110 and many of my family members have Bucks that I've gifted them from Walmart.

They'll be sold as a set on samsclub.com. Since we aren't a forum sponsor I don't want to go too much further, but they'll be at a price that I fully expect we'll sell out of. I call it a "drop the baby" price. With the nickle silver, would you still want to see cocobolo or something like rosewood?

Pinnah - Great idea. I like the paperstone idea specifically. I'm proud to be able to support Buck and all the other American made cutlery companies. The folks in Post Falls are absolutely world class people and I'm glad I can have such a close relationship with them.

 I would greatly prefer Paperstone too.

I should emphasize that getting the Walmart 110 a bit thinner (about 13mm) would be important, IMO. My opinion is that the traditional 15mm width of the Ecolites was their Achilles heel. They were light enough to be pocket carried, but too wide to be comfortably pocket carried. One way to think about this is as a throw-back to the earlier and thinner 110s.

Keep up the good work!!

Everything oregon said. It's true, it's true. It's all true. Thank you emw479.

This has been the best National Knife Day ever! :)

That is a beautiful sight to see.

Makael - I'll get you an answer today.

I wish I could see it. My wally world has no Buck knives and Mr sporting goods said no more. Wally needs to get their act together.

Can he get the wally worlds to be consistent and have all of them carry the specials or do the just throw darts?

I think they get a limited number and they sell quickly. By the time I got to the first store, where all three were supposed to be in stock, the 632 was not. And I only left one 715 for the next guy.

I got lucky at the next store and found two 632s. Again, I only left one for the next guy.

It may take a little work, but there is help here.
