Buck Clearance Sale...?

Personally, I like to reassure myself by thinking that companies package their products for shipping, so well, specifically because of the careless handlers that it will be meeting, along the way.

When my Hi-Power came back from Browning after having its front sight straightened, I missed the UPS guy when he was buzzing my apartment. So, I ran back to the clubhouse/manager's office to retrieve it. When I ran into him, we were outside, next to the clubhouse.

When I identified the package that he was carrying as mine, he promptly dropped it, flat, from about three feet up, onto a couple of the concrete steps leading up to the pool. He dropped my pistol onto concrete like that's always the way he does things...and, though he didn't know it, he was lucky that my pistol was boxed-up....

P.S. MikeSEA, that's a pretty knife! It's rotten that the packaging was so tore-up. Was the actual knife's box torn up, along with the outside packaging...?

!@#$%^&* spelling error....

This is the one that came in the damaged package but fortunately it was well wrapped in plastic in side. For scale purposes the blade is 6" long.

Mike

Gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful. And, that is a big knife with a 6" blade. Looks proportional, however. The stag horn really looks fitting and not over-the-top. Not exactly something you want kicked around while on its way to you. Thank you kindly for sharing.

Best,

Thanks guys. Yeah, I love the knife....Ken's a real artist.
In the instance with this knife the shipping box was actually wet and soggy. Looked like it had been rained on or dropped in a puddle. The USPS had placed it in a plastic wrapper with a label indicating the condition in case the contents were damaged. The knife and sheath were well wrapped in plastic bubble wrap so luckily there was no damage. The knife didn't come with its own box.

That's great RattlerXX! How do you like it?
I'm still waiting for today's UPS delivery, hoping it will be there. :(
The good news is that regular mail just arrived and in it was a Koji folder that I had ordered. Nice! :D Burl wood, stone stepped bolsters and ATS-34 blade.
Wait......I think I hear a truck......can't tell for sure because we're got a nice thunder storm going on.

Just met the UPS girl at the door and she had this nice little box in her hand. Could it be???

EUREKA!!!! IT'S HERE!!!!!! AND IT'S PERFECT!!!! Gotta go now and play with my new knives. :D

LMAO, good story Geo,

It brings back a UPS encounter of my own involving a Pistol. I had sent in a old Ruger 3 screw for some work. When Ruger shipped my prize pistol back the UPS guy left it on the door step:eek: . I'm lucky I was the one who found it there:grumpy: . Now I wonder if he tossed it from the open door of his truck:confused: .

God our UPS guy is the best. He is almost like family. If for some reason we are not home, he knows where to put the package. If it needs a signature, then he will take it to a family members home. He is awesome.

It's sort of like the blind men and the elephant isn't it?

A lot of companies just don't get it but the average persons perception of their operation tends to be based upon that one individual that they come in contact with. Either in person, by phone or by email.

It always pays to have good people on the front lines.

Geothorn: Thanks a lot for the heads up on this Sale. I have done this ( report sales ) and enjoyed hearing what people bought. Thanks to your post, I was lucky enough to snare 3 knives from the sale. I had thought about giving them as gifts, but when I handled the first two knives ( a police knife ( ats-34 ) & a revolution XT. They felt so good in my hand that I now need to order more. Anyway, thanks again and take care, Rob ( BCC L1513 )

I can joke about it now. I was steamed as hell when he dropped my newly-returned-from-the-factory (packaged) Hi-Power onto uneven concrete steps, just so that I could sign his electronic clipboard do-hickey!

It just goes to show, you just never know. I think that we all have an almost mythic ideal for a delivery man, one that never drops things, or drowns things, like MikeSEA's gorgeous knife, and never treats things roughly.

However...my buddy has had ammunition and a full-length Bushmaster barrel delivered to his place, and both were left out on his front porch, without a signature, in the sun during hot humid heat, and both were clearly marked as to what each package contained! My buddy is lucky that he got his ammunition and rifle barrel back safely. The UPS delivery man is lucky, too, in that his negligence of leaving my buddy's purchases outside, in my buddy's neighborhood, those items didn't get stolen, and that led to an armed robbery, a shooting, or a murder....

Myself, I've had a laptop computer returned from repair to an old address...thankfully, my Aunt and Uncle spotted it, and retrieved it for me. ;)

Hi Rob19. I'm glad that I could let other Buck fans know that Buck was having a sale. I kinda feel like I'm helping both Buck Knives and Buck fans by announcing the sale. Buck fans cannot get enough Buck knives that are as inexpensive as this recent sale made them, and, well, I guess that Buck wanted to move some knives out of their inventory that were gathering a little dust!

(And, to be honest, as much as I'd have wanted to, I couldn't have afforded to buy all of those knives and tools for myself....)

It's hard to go wrong with a Buck...and especially one or three that are on-sale.... ;)

I received my Buck Police knife yesterday. It came via UPS, which was left in my mailbox by the road. The UPS man usually puts the package by the door if no one is home, not this time.
When I first looked at the knife I wasn't too impressed but the more I handled it the more I liked it. When I gave it a flick and it snapped open and locked I knew I had a keeper.
Wish I would have ordered more than one!

Now, we have to see if Gryffin and Guyon get theirs, though, I'm not thinking that it won't happen.
Got mine this morning! And while the Buck web page wasn't clear, this one's got the Bos heat treat.

Actually, this one is an extra. I bought a used one off a guy a while back. He'd sanded down the scales a bit so that they weren't so rough; now that I've got a minty one, I can see why!

My only regret is that I didn't buy a couple more just for the "trade pile"...

I'd like to thank geothorn for posting this info. I wouldn't have known about it if he hadn't. Just received 2 Buck Striders and they rock! What a deal! Thanks Geo and Buck! Oh, and Blade forums too! :)

I was browsing the different knife sites and just happened to stop at my favorite one, Buck of course. I go through and check their prices every once in awhile and was amazed when I saw the $40 police knife. I already had three, but with a price like that I bought two more (I gave one to my brother). I have been collecting knives since the late 60's and have several 110's, but this police model (882) is a real winner. Nice sharing with you guys. Jim
