For all of the people talking about the thickness of the blade, .220 is THICKER than 3/16 which is .187
Good catch, your first post eh?
My Hoodlum measures out at .219, per my calipers. At first glance, it looks as thick as my Fehrman FJ, which is .250. About an 1/8 inch after the wire breaker, the point distal tapers. This cuts back on even more weight.
For those who think weight adds to chopping ability, they should consider the machete. They chop very well, and most weigh between 14-17oz. Velocity is the key here, and you can swing a lighter blade faster than a heavy one. Blade length and edge geometry also come into play as well. The Hoodlum has all these positive attributes.
When it comes to delicate tasks, where a smaller knife would work better, a thick, heavy chopper really sucks. The Hoodlum, being much lighter and agile, still works pretty good for those tasks, Its much better than your average sharpened prybar.
