Buck Slim Pro

When was the last time you sent a knife in the mail, around 1995?

I regularly sell a good number of used knives on EBay and on the gun forums I belong to. I've sent probably 15+ knives back to Buck and have never paid $15 to mail one–that's ridiculous. I never send them back in boxes. I just throw them in the smallest yellow bubble envelope I can find via First Class USPS.

Here's a receipt I still had around for the last one I sent back to Buck. I live in Charlotte, NC by the way and this was for a Buck 110. $3.75

I send mine in a box and insured...Usually priority...I guess it depends on the value of the knife you're sending....

It's still only 6-8$ depending on the weight and insurance...

Please Please Please don't send to us in padded envelopes. You would be surprised on how many of those arrive empty. Wally sells a small box just right for this stuff for about 50 cents.

Thanks..

I guess in this case you pay for lightweight, pocket carry typical EDC knife for the masses.

I completely get that and you are right. Dont get me wrong. I really like the micarta slim pro. And I understand its usage as a lightweight 110 carry option with some nice features. Its just a personal dilemma. When You’re talking about spending upwards of $90, i start to question whether I would rather have a high end full 110 release

RevolverGuy, I stand corrected:thumbsup:. Its just that I usually ship in boxes which cost a bit more.

1) you made the assertion that it’s normal for knives with pinned construction to have an uncentered blade, to which I disagree.

2) paying the $15 to send it in puts the total price above it’s value point & what I’m willing to spend on this knife. Now if they are willing to send me a shipping label it’s another story.

I get that it’s probably not normal, and that not everything can be 100% 100% of the time. But to exhibit an off center & rubbing blade, over length screws creating a scale fit issues & spinning threaded inserts which each of which should have not made it past QC on their own much less all at the same time on the same knife. It leaves a horrible taste in ones mouth and certainly gives one doubt about the overall quality of the product. Unless Buck steps up and sends a shipping label there is no path to resolution where I’m not out additional money. And for the record I have reached out to them and am awaiting their response.

As I’ve said before I really like the idea and the knife in general but the execution on the one I received leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully others don’t have similar experiences.

I can vouch for bucks customer service. They are top notch. Recently I made a comment about a knife I got new and J J Hubbard had me a label in less than a day. (Thanks for all your help AGAIN). And I didn't even ask I was just whining about a certain knife I had that wasn't quite right.

BTW I just got mine in the mail a few minutes ago, a black G-10 and green micarta. A quick inspection doesnt show any problems with either, So far, so good. :D

Got my G10 today -- a day early, which is always nice.

Initial impressions are really positive. It's definitely a Buck in terms of quality and construction. Sharp, solid lockup, no play. I do find myself wishing it was screwed construction but that's not a 110 thing. It is every bit the slim, lightweight 110 they promised. Big but easy to pocket.

Some people don't like the clip design but someone was paying attention to the ergos. The point sits right in the pocket of my palm and I can't even feel it when I gorilla grip the thing.

For me, it's love at first site. I can't help thinking that this thing should have been released 20 years ago but I'm glad it's here now.

This green micarta is going to be my first purchase as soon as I get some unexpected hospital bills paid off.

How is the blade play on the Micarta and G10 models?

very minor on the two micartas I have. almost none side to side. up and down just a tiny bit. many wouldnt notice it. extreme pay attentioners will notice just a tad.

I have a plastic version in blue it has zero in any direction.

so I have three. two micartas and a plastic. not a great sample but enough for me to say from my sample .......most will have very little if any.

Same exact situation here. Black G-10 and green micarta have very minor play, same as most 110's I've seen in my life. My plastic blue handle is ROCK SOLID.

now that's interesting Sir. we have the same results. curious how others plastic ones are......

I just received my blue plastic handled 112 in the mail today. It is flawless. The blade is centered. It has a good lockup with no up and down or side to side blade play. It feels good in your hand. I have a ka bar Dozier design that is comparatively priced but was made in Taiwan whereas the Buck was made in the USA. I like the ka bar but it feels cheap as compared to the buck. I can't remember how much it costs but they can't be much cheaper than the $24.99 that I paid for the buck. I don't think that you could find a better knife for the price anywhere.

Received brown micarta 112. The blade and lock liner were misaligned and had a small gap between scales and lock liner. Knifecenter is taking great care of me for a return. Think I am going to swap for a plastic version for now and wait until pro hit local shops to buy. I know one thing that dude is scary sharp!

The orders for the Micarta version are MASSIVE. lol Buck is swamped.

I received a brown micarta 110 slim pro today and the side to side blade play is awful. I am pretty disappointed because I was really looking forward to this delivery.
