Buck Vs Case

I like both and use both, provided it's the older Buck flat grind and not the newer sabre grind. Why did they move to a sub-par grind (for slicing--it's prone to bind up in cardboard, apples, potatoes, anything with firm structure)?
 
I don't find the new grind to bind up in cardboard. And I've cut a bunch with the 301.
Agree that it doesn't work well for peeling apples, though.
 
As far as Buck making the real workhorse in slip joints I say hooey to that. A yellow handled Case with CV blades is a working knife at its core and will go the distance.
