First of all I just want to say that I suck at finding anything with the forum search, and that if there's a thread already I'm sorry.

The thread regarding 119 and potential issue got me thinking.

Was the BUCKMASTER just made to cache in on the 1980's Rambo craze, or is there any validity to the Navy seals thing ?

By Navy seals thing Im talking about how it's often said the BUCKMASTER was designed for the Navy seals, and that the removable spikes are supposedly there so it can be used as an anchor, retrieval hook ...ect.

There's a popular picture of a seal in a boat with one, but that only shows that a soldier could carry whatever he could afford, not that it was designed for or marketed to seals in any way.

If anyone knows I'd sure appreciate any info you can give me.

read the buckmaster book by Richard neyman--man that tells it all.....and packed full of badass pictures...

Neither of those was helpful.

When I want to search I just Google it........for this, use "buckmaster seals" forums

You usually get a lot with that type of tactic. You can vary it a bit when you don't find what you want (always put "forums" at the end.....that keys in several forums, usually).

Here's a thread where Joe answers the question. There is other info, but I generally go with what Joe says.

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/markings-on-buckmaster.127523/

The answer is that Seals helped with the design process.

Hey Tyler,
The Buckmaster book is the bible of the origins of the Buckmaster and a couple of others. Go to Bucks website and I think in the knife section under Buck gear or Web specials you will find the book for around 25$ plus shipping. Guaranteed a good source of the information you are looking for.

Don
P.S. It would be a good source of info for other people also...

we are sending him to a source that knows at more about it than I do and I am not going to pretend I know about it and steer him wrong---what is the problem with that????

The PROBLEM is that you are telling him to pay $25 plus shipping to get info at some later time for info that's available free on this forum immediately.

I gave him the link to it and suggestions as to how to search more effectively.

The rest gave him nothing.

where did I tell him to pay anything??? man vorp you are on a roll or troll tonite putting words out there that I never even said--wtf... if it is free send him the link---I would like like to see the link too....why are you trying to degrade everyone for trying their little bit to help someone???? I don't know shit and I aint gonna claim I do and try to impress anyone ok....try to be decent with people ok....that means before you spout out think about how you place your words--just a thought...no I am not trolling...

I gave him the link. It's posted quite clearly.

If you have the capacity to do it......you can use it just like him.

Why the insults? Anger issues?
