BUCKMASTER seals myth ?

In my continuing war against misinformation I will offer this:

The Buckmaster book is NOT currently available on the Buck Website as was stated by a poster here. It's listed as out of stock.

If you go to Amazon you can get a used one in good condition for $39.95 and a new one for $49.95.

Our old friend eprague has it for $44.50 on the Bay.

Kindle (on Amazon) may be the best bet.....you can get that for $9.99 and have it in a searchable file on your computer.....I tend to favor this because it's so easy to look stuff up when you need it.

It does look like a good book if you are extremely interested in collecting the knife or just looking at pictures.

;)

I don't consider myself a 184 collector, only got one, more as a hollow handle survival knife collector, but I still thought Richard's book was a great read, and the kindle version has all the great photos of the print one and is only $9.99.

Mine is one of the later and most common variations.

I said I'm at war with misinformation.

I corrected the misinformation and added some new and helpful information.

War over. Peace on Earth......good will to men.

For What?
What misinformation are you talking about or are you talking about all the misinformation that you put out there...The book, if you had it in your hands, is not just full of pictures of the knife...Let me see the book is out of stock so that's misinformation? It was in stock last week...

Now Drop it, Verpil...

Nice 184 Bear Claw...Do you have the sheath? I'm assuming you do...

Don

Nice!!

Contact DP77 and see if he can come up with a pouch for you?? The compasses are available but they might be a little pricey...I got one from feebay for 40$ but I think I got lucky?

sed on restoration.

I might, if I were more collecting this as a Buck collector, I'd put more into restoring it, truth is, I may use it some just for the fun of it, so not really to focused on restoring it to original. Can't imagine lugging this brick around much though! :)

Yep that's the exact picture I've seen online.
Any you can tell this is obviously mid or early 80's based on that guy in the back having an A1, and the one who's got the 184 holding what I believe is an XM177.

Definitely a cool picture.

I agree! Some SEALS were upset the Navy didn't purchase them so they bought their own on the open market...The picture had to be after 1984 which was the first production year for the 184...Wouldn't the M16 be an A2...The handguards are different than the A1?

The guy in the back right has an A1 with triangular handguard, while the guy in front with the 184 seems to have a version of the XM177 ( often called the Car-15 ) which is the predecessor to the modern M4 carbine that I believe came out in the mid 90's
The A2 had the modern handguard that looks like the one on that carbine.
I'm no expert, I just have an interest in guns and tend to remember all the random stuff I learn watching informational programming regarding them.

BCCL, I have the same 184 as you, only one I have, just to be able to say I have one. Lot of knife there.

Just to add, the Seal on the left has the M-60...lots of firepower there. Preston

Edited to add pic...my Buckmaster and it's cousins.
