Bucks from China

To some, being a citizen of the greatest country in the world (and supporting its domestic companies) has a lot more meaning than just "the piece of dirt the factory stands on."

america is great. and its our home. but no country is "the greatest country".

dont get me wrong i love the USA. but saying america is the greatest means that every other country is second rate. and when we say were better than everyone else is worth less than us it really pisses off thse "second rate" citizens.

Well, I don't normally comment on the subject, but since the subject is already on the table, I will say this about my Foreign vs American knife purchases.

If I can get the same design in a USA-made knife, I will do so, even if I need to pay more.
If I cannot get the same design, then I will buy a foreign-made knife.
I do not buy foreign knives to get a lower price, only to get a particular design or steel composition that I need or want to try.

I apply the same rules to all countries. If I can, I buy American. Not Japanese, not German, not Italian, not Chinese. But there are quality knives available from all of those countries and I will buy them if I cannot find the design or steel in an American-made knife.

In the case of the Colleague, there is no equivalent American-made framelock of that size available. Period.

I have a Buck 327 and love it. Very well made, fit and finish great, centers nicely and
I've been very happy with some of the cutlery out of China. Buck, Spyderco, Rough Rider.
Good stuff.

China gets enough of my money through other means. Knives don't have to be one of them. It's funny how much we support communism in this country. China is a communist country right??

I believe EVERYONE should believe their country is best. If you don't feel that way perhaps you are living in the wrong place.

i wouldnt live anywhere else. all im saying is that when it is phrased in certain ways people get pissed off.

Your words couldn't be farther from the truth! The U.S.A. is the greatest country on earth. The type of government makes it so. If it were not the truth, why do so many citizens of other countries try so hard to emulate the culture and strive to one day experience the freedoms the United States offers?

As far as your "second rate" remark is concerned, people can only be second rate if that's how they view themselves. Second rate citizens do not exist in the U.S.A., only outside of it. Why do you think so many risk everything to arrive in America?

thank you for saying that
its the type of goverment and not the goverment its self. starting in the early 1900s american goverment started a few things that could be seen as immoral..and its not that these other counrtys want to copy or emulate american culture they just are starting to develop even thought america is a great example. (remember that over a third of the world HATES america and 2/3 of al the world is comunist/socialist).

"Second rate citizens do not exist in the U.S.A., only outside of it." wait is that what you just said? thats a little bit demeaning to those 'second rate citizens'.

im not trying to be an ass. it a RIGHT and OBLIGATION as americans to discuse topics just like this.even if someone hates america its covered under the amendments.

and please understand that next to god i love the place i call home.

LOLing at the way this thread turned out.
I'm guessing all those who "only buy American" are NOT using a "made in China" computer, while sitting on a "made in China" seat, at a "made in China table or desk. They probably don't watch tv on a "made in China" set, or listen to music on a "made in China" sound system. They probably don't cook on "Made in China" cookware, microwave, kitchen set, and they probably don't store their food in a "made in China" refrigerator.
Way to keep it real, guys. You are great patriots.
Now, excuse me. My favorite show is coming on. Let me go so I can push the button on my "made in China" remote control.
Be sure to hit your "Made in China" buttons on your keyboard while you respond to me. Oh, wait, ya'll DON'T have a "made in China" keyboard, that's right. Only American products for you.

Apples and oranges.
With computers and TV's, you have little choice without undue hardship in terms of finding and purchasing.
With knives, you have much greater opportunity/ability to exercise a choice of "buying American."

LOL.
Crap, I don't think my Victorinox Swiss Army knife is made in the US either!!!
I'm so going to burn in hell for that!! Haha

I believe EVERYONE should believe their country is best. If you don't feel that way perhaps you are living in the wrong place.

I guess that also means everyone should think their knife is the BEST knife as well, huh?
I ask because my imported Buck Canoe is the BEST knife in the world.
At least that's what I believe. :D

I can't speak for you, but to me, my country is a subject that's far more important than my knives.

Exactly. It's good to know you are one of those people who have NOTHING made outside the USA in your home.
Way to go sport.
