sorry bro, im on this other thread right now and it has me on edge. my fault.

i know how it goes out in the AZ. thats my home, grew up in yuma and boy do it miss it. i love it out there.

but dude out on the east coast everything is so cheap. almost makes the move worth it.

So, what you are saying is, Chine came here, TOOK our business by force, as well as the jobs, and made us bow down to them as conquerers?
Or do you mean AMERICA took our jobs away and sent them to China, as well as other countries, to save a buck? (no pun intended)
If I were your boss, fired you, and gave your job to some guy who would do it for cheap, who would you hold to blame? The boss who fired you, or the guy who did nothing but accept a job?
This whole thing is like being back in high school. Everyone here is defending the country that took their jobs away, and punishing the ones who accepted it. LOL.
Talk about backwards thinking!!
Oh, and before you make assumptions (which, by and large are usually wrong), I lost a job to over seas outsourcing. I love my imported Buck. One has nothing to do with the other.
But, if it makes you feel like more of a man to by American, go for it.
We will both have equal quality products, only mine won't break the bank.
LOLing at how people try to use politics when buying a knife.
Then I guess we will expect that you will be moving to the Canton Province. We wish you the best of luck and hope that the learning curve on using chop sticks is not too high for you. :): ;)

What do I believe? That it is the US who is screwing us by sending our jobs over seas?
Sorry, not belief.
Fact.

The attitude that "buying a product because of the piece of dirt is is on is rediculous" is EXACTLY what is sending all the manufacturing jobs overseas. DUH!!!

Everytime we have this, it ends up being polictical. Personally, I think Buck is doing the right thing. It is starting to bring back knives from China. It is only making knives in China for the price point customers.

It seems all the knife makers, no matter who they are have some of the value knives made in China. I think Buck seems to be one of the few that are sticking with the made in "USA" for most of their product line.

So, the Buck made in China is getting less and less, but they still want some knives in that area. I have no problem with that decision. Customers in a K-Mart, Walmart type store expect one type of knife, a customer from a gun shop expect another type.
I've got a buck colleague and a nobleman. Nice little knives, fit and finish are ok for the price. I think the steel is 8Cr13MoV.
And to make things even worse, I've got the SanRenMu lookalikes from both knives, just for comparison. (in fact I got the chinese chinese first, and then decided I also wanted the american chinese) I guess they come from the same factory. The only reason I prefer the Buck's is the name on them, fit/finish are equal.

Do you think Buck is making $$$$ when someone pays for a Buck from China?Could that profit help Buck?Have you held a Buck from China in your hands?Do you think Buck and others will continue to make knives in China?Do you think there are people in the USA who can not afford a new Buck except from China?

The only Chinese knives I own are Buck. That's because Buck makes an effort to produce as much as possible here AND backs it's relatively few Chinese made knives with the same warranty as it's domestic knives (not 1 year like some other companies). Even the economy Bucklite and Bantam line is made here now. There isn't much reason for Buck to make knives in China when they can produce them here so cheaply, which is why most of their knives are not made in China anymore. Slipjoints are more labor intensive than modern designs, so we'll probably keep seeing some of them come from China, but I wouldn't expect too much else will be coming from there as time goes on. The Vantage line is pretty amazing value for the money, in my mind it took a lot of imported knives from several companies off the table as competitors. Especially with Buck's warranty that almost no one matches.

Why would I move to Canton Province?
Because I like imported Buck knives?
LOL.
I also like German and Swiss knives, too. Shall I go there as well?
Oh wait, I like my Case Peanut, too, and my Case Sodbuster, and....
So, do I have to live in all these places because I like their knives?
As I said before, you'd better move next door to me in the Canton Province, since 95% of the products in your home are Chinese as well.
LOL.
Weird mentality you have.

No. The owners of the company are what are sending manufacturing over seas.
The fact that they can save money is what is sending them over seas.
It has nothing to do with an attitude.
They go where they want. We have no say in it.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes.
My sentiments exactly.

It has everything to do with that attitude. Doesn't matter how much cheaper they can make it if you don't buy it they can't make any money. If noone thinks it matters where your products are made they get away with it.

You have a say in it and every time you spend your money on "Made in China" over a domestic product you promote more of it.
THAT'S A FACT.

if you buy a buck from china it gives BUCK more money to inprove their products that are made in america. also it allows buck to stay in business, because we all know the high labor cost in america. i NEVER choose a knife made in china over america, but when i find a knife i like i buy it. regardless of where it is from. it is MY money and i work for it and i will spend it how I want.

We buy what they make.
It's a nice ideal to say "We have a say, just don't buy."
But it is just that, an ideal.
Apparently, all these products that I have been talking about in this thread, the TVs, computers, etc. that people buy that are made in China are bought because we don't have a choice. They don't make them anywhere else.
Well...... why don't these folks just do without computers?
Why not just do without appliances?
Why not protest and do without ANYTHING but a domestic Buck knife?
LOL.
Because we will buy what they give us.
If it were true that all we had to do was not buy, then why are most of your house hold products imported? Why not just make a statement and do without?
After all, if you make that statement, they will begin to make them here, right?
LOL.
No. And THAT'S a fact.

Amen to that, brother.

What is so hard to understand about
"You have a say in it and every time you spend your money on "Made in China" over a domestic product you promote more of it.
THAT'S A FACT. "

1. That IS a fact.
2. Notice I said "over a domestic product".
3. Yes it is a sad fact that there are many products no longer made here at all. IF more people actually noticed and decided to buy American BEFORE that happened that would not be the case.
4. If you don't believe the market drives production instead of the other way around I can't help you. "We buy what they make" They will only make what sells.
Yes we did it to ourselves, the Chinese can't hold a gun to your head and make you buy their junk. But we did it anyway.
