Budget knife pics!

One of the most overlooked attributes of an EDC folder is the "I don't care about it" factor. I don't mean that you don't care at all but, compared to a custom, mid-tech, CRK, etc. you would't care "all that much" or "as much" if it were lost stolen or borrowed & abused. That's where these budget knives shine!

This knife cost me $8.50 brand new (that's eight dollars and fifty cents). I like it so much, and am so happy with it's performance that it has replaced a $300 knife as my daily carry fixed-blade.

And here's the $300 knife that it replaced.

For the record I will not support any company I know is making or selling fakes.
Here is my newest blade Realsteel H5

:thumbdn: you'd better use another example to corroborate your bold claim there. From all the reviews on ganzo that I read or watched, it is significantly inferior to what's being copied (i.e., Benchmade, Lionsteel, etc.)

Here's an example... I'd take a Ganzo G727 over a Rat 1 anyday... better handle materials, better steel, better F&F, better locking system ... at less than half the price...

To me a budget blade is a really low cost blade that's really high value, and this is what I've got.

First it the bucklite max 482 which I consider to be the best 20$ knife money can buy and ( that's why I carried it constantly for 2 hole years ), and buck 283 nano bantam which is such a great lightweight and capable little 12$ knife

Next is the benchmark backpacker which is a fairly popular little 10$ fixed blade. I modified thus one with some jimping and replaced the pressed in Micarta pins with hand peened aluminum ones and edc'd it for a year . It's a cheaper Steel but it's very serviceable and holds a decent edge when using a different sheath as the original can dull it ( I made a simple leather one for it ) I like it so much that today I actually went back to carrying it for a while .

This is just a no name 5$ cheapo that really surprised me as it came very sharp, has no blade ply, and a nice deep/ flush carry pocket clip ( carried this one for about a year )

Last but not least, the imperial jackmaster Barlow is basically the original budget ( low cost high value ) folder. This was a gift from a forum member and has been in my pocket every day since I got it
These are all knives that were really cheap ( the Barlow can often be had for under 10$ if I had to buy one ) and are very serviceable and have / or will continue to serve me well.

Whoa.. Do you know if they are original designs or do they make knock offs from others? Thank you Etna.

Umekobo - Those particular ones are models 604 & 605 IIRC and I believe them to be original designs. Sanrenmu does have a few models that are inspired by other designs without being exact copies, but some still take issue with that. I purchased a SRM 7010, which is a scaled down Sebenza 21 lookalike, but I didn't know what a Sebenza even was until I looked up the SRM. They look similar, but one is $330, the other was $10. It's obvious that the handle looks the same but they are altogether different leagues of knives.

better handle materials - relative to what? Rat's come with a variety of handle materials.
better steel By who's standards? I'm willing to be that 440c isn't any better than the Aus8 Ontario is using. It's certainly not better than their D2. I found it to be quite awful when i had one, see below.
better F&F, Yea, I'm going to have to out right disagree here. I've owned Ganzos, before I realized what they were. The blade literally bounced off the "Axis lock" when closing leaving a nice quality ding in the edge. It needed to be sharpened all the time too. .
Better locking system- yea because it's not theirs. It's Benchmade's. That being said there is nothing wrong with their liner lock. lastly, your "for less that half the price" piece is ridiculous. There is a $5 difference between your Ganzo and a genuine Rat 1 on Amazon- shipped to your door.

$3 or $4 at Walmart ( I don't remember)
It's actually a pretty good knife, about the size of a Kershaw Leek.

Mine was $3.88 😁
it's not bad, but I just wish the scales were a better fit to the frame. I'm probably gonna give mine away as its right hand only and I'm a lefty.
