Budget knife pics!

Mine was $3.88 😁
it's not bad, but I just wish the scales were a better fit to the frame. I'm probably gonna give mine away as its right hand only and I'm a lefty.

The scales on my knife are a little off too. :)
I use it as a work beater , so it's not bad for that and I can throw it in my pocket without using the clip ( I work in NYC).

I decided to give it to my dad so I sharpened it up and am now waiting for my wood burner to heat up so I can customize it for him with ARMY. I drew it on masking tape first because he wanted to see what it would look like before I did it. It was an impulse buy and I never used it , and I'm sure my dad will.

No name lock back. Surprised as to how solid this knife is! Brother gave it to me. Said he bought 3 at $5 each.

That looks like the infamous $1 walmart knife. I have one somewhere buried with my other cheap knives, if I happen upon it I can verify this.

Not exactly a great picture, it's the only one I have of that knife, but by far my favorite sub $100 knife.

A gerber LMF II, one of the earlier ones with Sandvik 12C27. The knife has taken a ton of abuse over the years and has held up exceptionally well. It's a constant companion when I'm backpacking or camping. I love the sharpener built into the sheath, it gives peace of mind that if I trash my edge while on the trail, and can get fixed up nicely.

Here's how the Ozark trail gent turned out ( I'm calling it the gent as it's the only one besides that lockback that more classy and not tactical )
It's not perfect, but my dad really likes it and if he looses it it's no big deal as it was only 3$

mine. Prob have others stashed various places. I know there's a little Gerber in the glove box of my car.

These two I inherited from my grandfather after he died. The modern versions seem pretty inexpensive and they probably were back when my grandfather bought his, took. Seems like he got an awful lot of use outta them.

Kershaw Half Ton. Neat little knife for twelve bucks.

Colt Utility/Scout knife. Very well made for the $20 price tag.

That's definitely the 1$ Walmart knife which I now know because I saw them today, but for some stupid reason that I can't figure out my local Walmart has upped the price to $7.50 ( why would they up the price of these $1 Ozark trail knives to $7.50 when the $3.89 Ozark trail knives are 10x better )

Can't post pictures from th iPhone due to Flikr stupidity. Links will need to do.

On the topic of homage or R&D as rip-off and duplicate, it's probably worth a quick study of traditional patterns. Pretty much every traditional design and pattern of any merit has been widely replicated by huge numbers of manufacturers. Case didn't invent the Sodbuster pattern. Opinel and Buck seem to be surviving in the face of numerous knock offs, as has Victorinox.

Market success is based on a lot factors pretty much all of which are off topic for this forum. Fakes sold as branded fakes are always bad but design duplication has been standard practice in the knife business forever.

Most of my knives cost less than $50, but I consider <$30 to be more on the 'budget' side.

CRKT Centofante

Kershaw Indian Ford MOP

Buck

Schrade

Rough Rider

Since I mainly collect and use traditionals, I almost forgot these two Bucks

Hey thats great news! It's nice to have a knife that goes up in value. Sell it now so you can make a profit. :D

Here's mine along with my dollar store knife.

These are the budget blades i've picked up over the years. A few odd balls in there but these are all knives I would and have actually carried at some point. Missing is my new Rat 2 which is an awesome knife.

My idea of budget is a little different from the original post. Here are 6 under $50.
