Budget survival knife showdown.. g803, d-171, td-01

Out of the three posted, I'd have to go with the TD-01. However, for about five more dollars, you could get a Buck Mesa. Good knife. Great company.

Many knives from china are sht* yes.. but there are gems among those turds.. I don't care where the knife comes from as long as it performs. You guys are too biased to keep your head clear and make a good choice. I came here for advice on how to get the most for that amount of money, but I see all I get is nationalised biased advertising.. so I wish you all well.. topic closed as far as I'm concerened.

You really need to seperate China from Ganzo et. al. this place has a love affair with Chinese knives everything from Byrds to We's

And the ones you have shown are in the former category, not the latter.
And this sire is full of people praising the gems made in China.
And how is everyone suggesting a Mora "nationalized bias"? Are we all from Sweden?

The knives you suggested are junk, made and sold by thieves. We made tried to help and made suggestions, you ignored them, and then tossed a wobbly.

Only succeeding in making the whole thread even more suspect.

I have one for you - made in the EU - best bang for your buck (after mora) - Terävä Jääkäripuukko, carbon steel for 33 euros

Personally, I would take the 80crv2 steel they use over china d2 ANY DAY, (even if it's real d2)
Spend some time here and read some more, people are not being 'political', but rather have a sense of honour and respect for original makers & smiths

Some people just don't like being informed that the garbage they spent a whole $25 on is...garbage.
Especially if they're trying to shill said garbage!

Ok, thanks for help all. I will reconsider Mora, and try to find it at a decent price.

If I find a good deal on it delivered that is an option! Thanks.

You have already said the Mora will cost you the same as those other knives.

Mora are great knives.. but in my country for a heavy duty companion I would pay 30$, and not so sure they can compete with hx models as far as edge retention, batoning etc.. 12c27 is good, but d2 is better.

And despite everyones' suggestions, you are saying those knives you posted are better.

So why even ask.

Get whatever you want to buy (if that is what you are really up to)...you have shown no real evidence of wanting to do anything else.

But people come here to learn. And those knives you posted are of questionable construction from companies/sellers who have a made living off stealing the hard work of others in the industry, many of whom are fellow members here and friends.

I am not a fan of scandi ground knives, but a Mora Companion is an excellent knife, made by good people. Unlike the ones you have listed.

Good day.

Behold! YouTube science!! :poop:

You have something against hard work those people put in to actually test the knife steel and hrc? They are the only ones I found that have acess to 40 000$ equipment to do so.. and they share results so we can actually know what we are buying. Those people trully love knives and do knife community a true service by doing independant testing and exposing products that are falsly advertised.

Take a look.. red ones on the list are fakes..

Why would you insult these people?

Why would you insult these people?

And do you have something against hard work people put in to actually create the knife designs those companies and sellers blatantly rip off?

I'm done. Get your junk knives for your "survival."

Question....what brands do you have easy access to? I’m assuming you’ve done some homework, and those aren’t your only options.

Well.. thats the thing.. the easiest acess I have is to chinese free shipping stuff.. because local shops charge 2-3x what items are worth.. so it's hard to resist when you see a decent tested knife delivered free and you know there is no middle man ripping you off 200%

I prefer my outdoors knives to be better quality than just “decent”. Save your money and buy something proven.

Good luck eating with your ripoff forks and sitting on your ripoff toilet. There comes a point when everything becomes a ripoff.. I dont approve stealing someones work.. if you are refering to my ganzo knife its not a ripoff.. last few knives they made, they designed themselves. So I think thats comendable.

stop and think about it, you're trying to defend ganzo to knife enthusiasts ...
full stop

you'd have better luck converting the pope to atheism
