And if the dollar buys less, just think of Europeans and the current Dollar/Euro parity.Socialism has led to the printing of trillions of dollars which has devalued our currency. The Bugout likely costs about the same. The dollar simply buys less.

I thought we were talking about the Bugout's price in comparison to other brands? Is the Bugout's price affected by "Socialism" more that other brands?Socialism has led to the printing of trillions of dollars which has devalued our currency. The Bugout likely costs about the same. …back on topic…Does anyone else have some opinion on S45 vs S30V? I hear it is less prone to chip.
The conversation was mostly about the frequency and size of the price increases.I thought we were talking about the Bugout's price in comparison to other brands? Is the Bugout's price affected by "Socialism" more that other brands?
I am on the CRK wait list for a backpacker and a Magnacut insingo sebenza. At this rate they will cost twice as much as when I ordered them. At least I have plenty of time to put aside the $$.Can't really expect the price of something to stay the same forever. Materials cost, labor costs, logistics, inflation, it will all change or alter the price. I'm on the wait list for a chris reeve green beret and they emailed everyone saying the final price for the items are changing for the reasons listed above, sorry OP bit thats life
$16 this quarter. How much the quarter before that, and so on, for the last several years? We're talking a knife that should be under $100 based on the materials (mini grip a couple years ago anyone?), and is rapidly approaching $200. And it seems like every new release the last few years is closer to $250 than $200.All this over a $16 price hike for something nobody has to buy and that will last for years. No chance everyone is this broke. So good.
As to the Deka, to each their own. I handled one and didn’t care for it. I understand the appeal.
Freedom!!
Absolutely. I asked myself if I wanted to cancel my order, and I decided against it because if I did so, I'll never get it. I actually have the pacific and green beret both in black blade and black micarta un-serrated on the wait list. At the time the cost was 625.00 I really hope it's not something ridiculous like 2.5k. You won’t get stuck, you can always just say no thanks when your order comes up. And they really did try to not raise prices for a very long time, the raise was fairly marginal imo given how long prices had remained the same, can’t imagine they’ll be doing anything remotely like doubling prices over the next couple years. I won't be happy if I get stuck forking that out
The differences are negligible. If you had two identical knives in each, you would need to do some very specific testing to suspect which is which. 99.9% of users would never know the difference.Does anyone else have some opinion on S45 vs S30V? I hear it is less prone to chip.
There is a difference to note, however negligible CPM-S45VN is a very slight upgrade, while taking on no additional cons, I think we can slowly write CPM-S35VN out of the book. If I’m not mistaken s35 is a bit tougher. Also more of a great value when s45 first hit the market and nobody wanted the junky old s35 anymore so prices on older CRKs for example dropped quite a bitThere is a difference to note, however negligible CPM-S45VN is a very slight upgrade, while taking on no additional cons, I think we can slowly write CPM-S35VN out of the book. I stand by what I said. The vast majority of users won't be able to tell the difference. According to knifesteelnerds it should have slightly better corrosion resistance, about the same if not slightly better toughness(negligible), and about the same if not slightly worse edge retention(negligible). There is a difference to note, however negligible CPM-S45VN is a very slight upgrade, while taking on no additional cons, I think we can slowly write CPM-S35VN out of the book. No but there are scales made from other materials that are not so "flexy". I have G10 scales on my BHQ special and they don't flex much at all. Of course aluminum or titanium scales would solve the issue too.I'm sure the bugout is fine fine for light use, I just immediately had an issue with the flex of the scales when I pinched them. Are they reinforced with steel liners now?
The plastic scales feel weak and flesh but I have seen torture tests where they really abuse the Bugout with no failures.I'm sure the bugout is fine fine for light use, I just immediately had an issue with the flex of the scales when I pinched them. Are they reinforced with steel liners now?
The Bugout design is unchanged. It's a steel cartridge liner extending about 40% along the handle.I'm sure the bugout is fine fine for light use, I just immediately had an issue with the flex of the scales when I pinched them. Are they reinforced with steel liners now?
