Thanks Mike, just noticed the email for the Lion Steel Barlow and got on the sure list for one and maybe for a second.
That reserve led me to this thread and this pic forced my hand and reserved a burlap.

Thanks again!

I was happy to get both a burlap and canvas reserved. If the burlap is anywhere close to my Peña zulu, I'll be a happy camper. (and yes, burlap micarta can be polished, at least that's how Enrique does it :applouse:)

Very NICE!!!! John

Nice!!! Is the final knife finish going to be polished?? Can ya polish Burlap Micarta?? John:)

Can you, yes. With they, probably not. Not the F&F way...

I dont know how I would like it polished.
On a stainless blade it would work well, since it would look pristine for a longer period of time. But toss a heavily patina'd blade into a highly polished handle and it may look a touch conflicted.

I am thinking of it as custom tailored tux pants with a tuxedo t-shirt.
The non-polished micarta worked Great on the recent run of 85s. Maybe once I have mine in hand in may change my mind and polish it, but I have my doubts.

Polished or matte, the burlap slabs look good so far. Now where did I put my tuxedo t-shirt

Since the burlap is a subdued color, I think the brown burlap with a polish will look good with a patina... The slabs look great and hopefully the finish shows them off.

The pictures are in the 71 work in progress section. The slabs don't look like what Mike posted earlier, but I like the earth tone color better. The pic Mike posted seems to lean a bit on the orange color tones. Might just be different camera and lighting used at GEC that makes them look so different. Looking forward to seeing the finished product from either one...

I've seen those used in some knives and called oatmeal burlap. Looks good to me. It would darken with use.

I'm digging it. It looks like they didn't use any dyes in the making of the sheets.

Clean burlap and clear resin.
Exactly what you paid for, nothing more, nothing less.

Please polish the 71!

While I'm wishful thinking out loud, can we get that fancy black perimeter on the covers, and cool shield, and... Oh ya, wait, it's a sodbuster..

I'm upset, I waited to long to reserve one of these burlaps. I did get a natural reserved though. Hopefully one slips through the the cracks.
