Bushcraft community hate towards non-bushcraft knives? What's up with this bushcraft craze? 😂

This is like religion everyone has a belief. If it works for you that's all that counts.

Disagree. Have you been on some of their forums?

"Bushcraft" is more like a cult, where only one ideology is accepted, outsiders are frowned upon, and no amount of reason or common sense will change their viewpoint. Even if it does "work for you", that doesn't count if it doesn't "work for them".

Amish/Mennonite is a religion. I can accept and respect their old-school rejection of modern technology. They are the true bushcrafters.

Everyone else is "Please pass the Kool-Aid".

I agree

The misconception that the latest super steel is now the defacto standard and should be expected on every quality knife comes to mind. I would not mind my knife being able to pry open a couple of paint can lids every now and then without snapping a brittle super hard supersteel tip.

I don't believe all the hype about super steels being superior. I do however fall for Busses explanation that heat treat, grain structure, and steel quality is much more important than how hard a steel can get or how wear resistant it is. I fall for it hook line and sinker and I do not even carry Busse knives.

These aren't the droids you are looking for.

I am trying to make the connection between your post and bushcrafting - and failing.

“The Children of Ray Mears”?

I have been camping for over 50 years-back packing, canoe camping, car and motorcycle camping, and I have never had the need to baton wood, build a shelter or use a fire steel. I usually carry my old Eswing axe and/or a folding saw. I carry nice knives because I like nice knives but I have never needed one for survival.

How about we use the good old Eastern European term of "Tourist knife"?
Tourist knife here actually means adventurer knife and not touristic knife.
What part of Eastern Europe you have in mind ? I never heard the “Tourist knife” used around there…

Shame. That’s the one thing I like about so-called “bushcraft” knives. They all appear to be fairly comfortable to use with good geometry. Wolfspyder seems like an excellent EDC option.
For the money, I think the Finnwolf is a better choice. The Wolfspyder is significantly overpriced. But I digress.

Are there certain types of clothing one must wear to be part of the “Bushcraft” community?

Now, this has got me wondering...

Is it the Bushcraft "Community"? Or...the Bushcraft "Neck of the Woods"?
