Bushcraft knives...

How do you "frives me nuts? "Sounds like it would hurt!

Wow... for some reason that was incredibly funny!

Edited to add a photo, BK7, CR Skinner, McFadden Bushalong, Breeden Tyson Bushcraft, Krein Bushcraft, Ritter Grip

My Krein is awesome, the Tyson was just visiting on a passalong. I recently received a F1 from an INCREDIBLY generous forum member. I haven't been able to fully abuse it yet though. I'm also in the market for a scandi ground knife to compare... just might have to be a Mora... or a Koster Bushmaster.

I'm in serious like with my Mora Triflex 780. The handle fills my hand nicely and the blade is holding up to the modest work I've given it.

That said, I'm chomping at the bit for the next Koster Bushcraft Production Run. Thick micarta handles and 3V blade should make for a great working knife that I won't have to baby at all.

Since Dan said he's going to increase the micarta thickness on that run, it definitely becomes easy to recommend.

Maybe it's just the new knife honeymoon phase, but my recently acquired Helle Futura might be edging out my Bark River Northstar.

Helle pros:

The blade is absurdly sharp.
The handle is super ergonomic and comfortable.
Easy to sharpen.

Helle cons:

The sheath is awful.
The spine does not throw firesteel sparks well.

Northstar Pros:

Full tang.
Excellent sheath.
Spine throws sparks easily.

Northstar cons:

Handle is a bit too small
Harder to get sharp (for me)

Hi all,

Here what I have been using so far. In the first pic is a knife that I started on wednesday and finished on thursday and it sheath. it is the bottom one it has a 2 and 7/8" blade length and a 4 and 1/8" handle. the knife blank just above that one, has the same handle but with a 3.5" blade length and I am starting another one with a 4.5" blade length to just for fun. they have the Knife blade shape that I call the Tyson. but with a handle shape that Jeff H. from here on the forum sent me a couple of months back .Jeff said he was just doodling LOL keep doodling Jeff LOL
and said I could use that to a knife if I wanted to. well I started to do that and so far so good I think. the bottom knife has a 1/8" thick blade and the
blade blank has a 3.5" blade length and is made out of 3/32" thickness.
the 4.5 that I am working on has a 1.8" thick blade to no pics of it yet.
here is the pic oh ya the top knife is the TH Bushcrafter with a 5" blade length and is 5/32" thick.

Here is a pic of a few other styles of bushcrafter type knives. Under the rat 3 is a CUB knife like Bear the dogs ( that is his ) and then a couple of small peace makers with 4" blade lenghts and a couple of orange sheaths made by Jeff H.

I have a few moras and a canadian special with a wood handle (can't remember the name)
I am leaning towards a Muskrat Man bushcrafter for my X-mas gift to me,

BRK&T Canadian Special A2
Bark river also makes a bushcraft blade...I just can't remember the name?

The Northstar is Bark River’s original Bushcraft design based on the Fox River.

The Aurora (pictured below) is their bigger Bushcraft design.

Of course there’s also the Kephart and there was a run of Lil’ Nessy’s.

I have a Koster Bushcraft in 3V that is great.
Coming is a Koster Bushmaster also in 3V.
Can't wait for that one

Bryan
I had Bryan make that knife for me. It is based loosely on the Bark River Aurora. I love it, nice and sharp, the spine kicks butt when scraping ferro rods, the 01 steel holds a nice edge for me and Bryan's sheaths are monster heavy duty:thumbup:I have Bryan making me a four inch PSKK at the moment and it probably won't be the last he hears from me:)

Sorry. Had to. :p

I didn't even see that before.

Thats a stunning knife you have there.

So how does damascus perform? It would almost scare me to use it, because its so pretty.

Its actually a rather deep hollow grind. I've used it on some vegtables and done some light wood work with it. I want to use it more but it kinda scares me too. I'd never batton with it or pry. Its strictly for cutting. I hope to give it a real breaking in on a Whitetail one day. I didn't get one last year. We'll see what the future brings.

Great bunch of knives you got there.

It performs very well. The one I have is a scandi.
