Bushcrafting cargo rigs

The recent thread on Bushman's Load Bearing Vest made me wonder if anyone else out there had cool non-pack cargo kits for day or multi-day hikes. Does anyone have a personalized belt or vest system they use for bushcraft?

I'll get this going......here is a few of mine

first is the 5.11 chest rig, with twinned 5.11 Med pouches. One has the FAK logo removed. Both pouches have zippered mesh compartments so nothing can fall out. Just the basics for a dayhike or multi day hike. I call it the MOOKIE (Modular Organized Operations Kit Invade/Egress) (of course everyone just calls it MOOBS!)

in the works is a Camelback delta5 vest with integrated water bladder, paired with an KIFARU E&E pack on the back, and various pouches on the front. Also in the works is a custom chest rig to my specs, made locally in Burnaby BC by ICE TACTICAL. I expect to get that going by late summer.

A great source for balanced rigs like that is AARN. The AARN bodypack is a combination backpack with front packs, and it has a great suspension system that can really twist and contort with your body. Very well balanced packs - I'm hoping to save some cash to get my own someday soon.

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, but the front rig would be great for hunting....duh, where everything's in front of you, not having to take your pack off to get something out to use it, I'm looking into something for the up coming season......

I wonder how the arm clearance is on something like that? All of Bushman's rigs are narrower than the body, so no problems there, but I'm wary of width on the front because my big backpack (Osprey Atmos) has pockets on the belt that give me blisters on the inside of my forearms unless I walk with my "wings spread."

Love this set up Bushy. Is that the Scrapper 6 as well? How's the cocoon pouch attached to the sheath? Looks to be tied on with paracord?

I'm a simple soul. I love a webbing belt and alice straps and assorted pouches and buttpacks. Sometimes, things don't have to be reinvented.

true, but half the fun is buying new gear, trying it out and mix & matching it! Then field testing it, documenting what worked, what didn;t work and then doing it all over again the next day.

hey Bushie, are you going to get the kifaru koala chest rig in the future?

The Koala can be worn chest carry (low or high)- can be configured as a butt pack/shoulder bag or pack too
