Got the Bushfinger today. I sort of had my hands full today but here are a few initial photos. This thing is reeeeeaally nice!

This is how it came and I have to say Andy sure has style.

Inside I found this. I really like this sheath a lot, works great for the pocket as well as a belt. I have a tendency to carry my knives in a front or cargo pocket at times.

This knife is beautiful, and the fit and finish are stellar. I love how Andy mated the handle scales to the bolsters at an angle, that's a really nice touch.

The handle feels really comfortable, and is weighted just right for long term use with the balance point (not pictured yet) just to the rear of the first finger.

I didn't have a lot of time so I didn't get to do a lot with it...just whittled a couple of notches and whittled a little. But it was enough to tell me just how much fun working with this knife is going to be.

I'll get it out in the bush for a little crafting this weekend...but I'll probably use it for making dinner tomorrow...left over spaghetti tonight...

Andy's work is top of the line and always feel like the knife is apart of your hand. The steel sharpens easily back to razor sharp and hold an edge well.
Thanks,
Michael

Looks nice - might have to get one sometime! I like how the pins are different colors...

Great lookin' blade Mist. Love the finish Andy left on the flats.

Thats a nice looking knife. Whats the specs on it? I've just recently noticed Fiddleback. It was the production Recluse by BRKT that caught my attention. I still need to get a recluse and maybe a custom down the road.

Thanks guys this thing is really sweet. Andy did an absolutely fantastic job on it!

This is my first one (but I've been wanting one for over a year) , and so far I am loving it.

The specs are...

8.75" or 22.25cm over all.
4.30" or 11cm Blade
4.50" or 11.4cm handle
5/32" or 4mm thick spalted O1 steel
nearly flat convex sabre grind
black canvas micarta liners and bolsters
Natural canvas handle scales
pins are natural canvas micarta and carbon fiber.

I really like that Andy uses so much 5/32 steel on his knives. I think those who have such a love affair with 1/8 blades have had totally different life experiences than I :)

Man, thats sweet. I love seeing all these pics! It really excites me to see my plunges these days. It takes me forever to learn this stuff, but I've finally gotten these down pat.

Oh yeah? Well just you wait till I actually get the time to get it in the field this Sunday or Monday  .

The plung is excellent, the lighting wasn't the greatest and that picture was shot off-hand in macro... it really doesn't do it justice. I love the attention to detail in your craftsmanship Andy.

Is it just me, or does time grind to a slow crawl when you are waiting for one of those little brown paper and twine packages? The anticipation! :)

Awesome pics! I want a layered handle now! :)

Thank you, it looks even better in person...in hand...:D

That's a d@mn fine looking knife.

Thanks, I think so too

I need a Fiddleback...

I had been saying that for over a year, come to find out I was right :)

Great job crafting that Andy.
Great pictures MW

Thanks, glad you like the photos, Andy did an outstanding job on this piece!

No, it's not just you. Andy is just about 2 hours down the road from me and I must have checked the tracking 10 times over the three days it took to get here lol.

That knife is absolutely beautiful, it really looks just about perfect in most if not all aspects for me.

Brian, how are you finding the handle near the index finger? I've been looking at the Hunter because I like how it's wider there, seems like it would offer better control. Also, how is it in the chest-lever?

It feels like it was made for my hand. As for the chest lever...it feels good in that grip but I haven't used it in that hold under pressure yet. The chest lever just isn't one of the grips I use when dicing veggies or slicing tender loin :) , and the bad storms that passed through earlier interfered with the "evening-in-the-woods-out-back" plans I had. By the time the rains stopped it was too dark to much...maybe tomorrow.

Ah, I forgot you still need to take this baby out...I need to curb my enthusiasm :o :D

I look forward to your review later  It's going to be this one or the Hunter for me...maybe something in between if I ever get to see a pic of the two side by side.
