Bushwacker Mistress. . . . Spy Pics!!!!!!. . .. YOWZA!!!!!

To me they only make sense on a medium sized blade.

There’s no need to choke up for better point control on a 4” blade. There’s no point in choking up for better point control on a 10” blade. In either of these cases you’re better off with blade right to the handle. You can have a good comfortable grip and do fine carving at the point of greatest control.

It’s only on medium sized blades that a choil makes sense. Using the choil for better point control on a 6” or 7” knife offers enough advantage to balance the loss of edge and the loss of a comfortable, all fingers grip.

I'll just make some popcorn and wait for Last Visible Canary to come along. :D

Jerry!! We need a price. I need to know how many organs I must harvest to afford an LE (Spooky Halloween laugh.)

Seriously. I have pieces that I was thinking of rotating out of my collection and it would be nice to have a heads-up on price.

I wasn't debating the merits of choils, but rather joking about what I think is the (un)likelihood of seeing a production BM w/o one.

I missed a week on the forum, but it was worth to check "in".

OMG, what a knife. love it.

ok Jerry and crew, your turn (new ones please):

So explain it to me.

What is the advantage of a choil on a long blade?

I tend not to get involved in the great choil debates. My reference to LVC was sort of an inside joke here, as he has strongly held opinions on the subject.

I think it goes like this:

- choils are a core design element of the Busse brand and therefore (most of) its knives.
- nearly all Busse knives have choils, and most users/buyers (just a guess) like it fine.
- recently (and currently) the Tank Buster can be ordered without one, which is rare.
- as for whether or not choils are useful/necessary, see any 9mm vs .45 discussion.

or something like that. ;)

me, I like 'em (as long as they're big enough to be useful, the tiny ones bug me).

If you are comparing the choil debate to 9mm vs .45, you had better be aligning the choil side to .45: I love my 1911s.
