Bushwacker Mistress. . . . Spy Pics!!!!!!. . .. YOWZA!!!!!

I think that this is the complete package. The coolest design in the 3 years I've been collecting Busses. I love the bowie clip, the tree bark texture and the thin stock. So freaking excited to get one!!!

I love the thin INFI in a Mistress, no doubt. and the new grip texture is, well, meh. but the bowie clip point, that's is my least favorite part, go figure... ;)

I'll get one anyway, but gahhhh I don't like the bowie clip point, on any knife.

I love the textured grips over smooth. The clip just looks cool. The thINFI is the best part.

agreed, it's all about the thINFI.

and maybe the clip point isn't that bad after all (though it does seem shorter on the proto, which I like better):

I think that everyone should give Jerry a break on the handle criticism. He hasn't posted them all, or even given detailed shots beyond the earlier ones for the G10 web. These are "spy" photos...I am sure they will be outstanding.

You know I'm in for thin. And the clip point.

The only way to make it better would be to put a slight swedge on the clip. Perfection. :D

That new clip does look quite a bit longer. It would be cool to see a spear point on it. Then it would really be reminiscent of the ZTBM!

agreed. I'd much rather have a spear point on it, and a choice in handle textures, but hey - at least it's thINFI and offered in CG so it's hard to complain too much. ;) besides, they'll sell the mess out of whatever options are offered.

and to the others who've commented - I think it's good that Jerry and crew get feedback like this, as long as it's polite (which is has been). I think many folks just want a skinny BM without too many other mods/changes (sans clips and bark... IMO).

but who knows, maybe the bark will be the new rope cut in terms of popularity. hard to say, but it does look sort of goofy and home-style-dremeled, and I sort of wonder if they aren't trying too hard to make it unique amongst BMs.

thINFI - check
long/BM blade - check
old style handle shape - check
CG offerings - check

every other change, is, well, unnecessary to me. but whatever, like I said, I'll buy one anyway, but wish it were a little different.

I have faith that these guys have tested the tree bark handle to make sure it feels good when chopping and bush-whacking. Given that, I'm happy to give it a whirl.

I wish I could say the same - the machined handles on my fsh tear the heck out of my hands. Add that to the busse pinky from the fusion handle shape and it's one of the least comfortable handles I own. I plan to take some sandpaper to it soon and smooth it out.

I actually really dig the appearance of the tree bark handles - I just worry how those ridges will feel. If course, if they are too aggressive I can always smooth em out with some sandpaper.

I hope the bushwhacker is offered with a hand shaped mag option - I love the hand shaped slabs on my nmsfno, and it's the most comfortable non-res-c handle I have used.

.... the machined handles on my fsh tear the heck out of my hands....

Seriously? No offense, but you must have some baby-butt-soft hands. Are you a lover not a laborer? ;) I am just yanking your chain, so please don't take it the wrong way. I love machined scales for 2 reasons: 1) They look cool as sh!t! It separates Busse from the rest of the crowd with the cool patterns they come up with--both functional and pleasing to the eye. 2) I get sweaty and the machined scales are far superior to smooth, especially with G-10. YMMV

Actually I'm a rock climber, and have seriously calloused hands from grabbing onto sharp crystals in granite and razor crimps in sanstone and quartzite... The fsh machined handles dig in worse than a bunch of broken pebbles embedded in conglomerate rock.

I have other busse machined handles which are fine, but the ones on that fsh are downright horrible.

The handles are the easiest things to change on a Busse knife. Heck, with a little persistence, you can talk Garth and crew into putting a different grip on for a very reasonable price.

I would never let the grip dissuade me from buying a knife I liked.

OK ... maybe if the grip was something fragile and expensive like mammoth tooth ivory.;)

me too. where have/do you climb? I started in the Ozarks (Sam's Throne), then lived in AZ for 13yrs (and climbed all over the state), and I've spent time at Joshua Tree, Hueco Tanks, Fountainbleu, and more I'm just forgetting.

Now I live in Colorado, but am taking a break from climbing and mountainbiking because my left arm needs surgery. anyway, always cool to meet other climbers and especially in unexpected places.

I haven't traveled much for climbing, so most of what I've done has been here in the southeast. When I was roping up a lot it was all sport climbing at foster falls, the palisades, sand rock, Leda, etc....

Lately I've been exclusively bouldering - mostly at horse pens 40 in Alabama (riding home from there as we speak actually), but also rock town, little rock city, boat rock and so on....

Most of those names probably mean nothing to anyone outside of the dirty south :D

True words. A friend has the NMSFNO and I love how it feels in hand. I hope to pick one of those up someday too.

My visits to Bama have been primarily limited to Tuscaloosa and the surrounding area, and Birmingham, and most of those were as a child visiting relatives and such or just for brief holiday stays. I didn't get into climbing until the very end of my time living in the dirty south, and don't go back much now.

I've never heard of those places, but I'll google them and see where you're talking about just so I know. I like leading 5.8/9/10 single pitch sport the most, followed by bouldering, and multi-pitch sport. Arizona was the best, the sheer breadth and depth of what's available within a couple of hours is staggering.

Bouldering in Joshua Tree is like climbing on broken glass shards but somehow still fun, and Fountainbleu is the thinnest slopey-est boulders I've ever been on but in a staggeringly beautiful forest in a quaint little village/town, and Hueco Tanks is beautiful and fun with cool native american cave paintings and such. Every climber should check out those places one day. ;)

I wonder how many climbing ropes I could cut through with a Bushwacker?

;)

Yeah I plan to hit hueco and font some day - we have some razor sharp granite here in Atlanta and while I do climb on it occasionally, I'm not crazy about it... that makes josh less tempting.

I've heard font is VERY similar to HP40 - horse pens is all slopey madness. I just finished a fantastic V4 sloper problem today that has been vexing me for a couple of weekends. The topout was pure desperation - not a hold to be found, just palm and pray....

I have some old climbing ropes that have been retired.... hmmmmmmmmmm....

I am excited about this offering! I love black paper micarta...that with some thin INFI has me all aquiver.
