Busse Anniversary Knife Model?. . . You decide!!!

Think about this - you can still find a Steel Heart I - rare but possible. But what are your chances of ever owning something as distinct as the:

"SILENT KNIGHT"

I have never seen one in person, only photos!!! That is what made the Argonne Assault, Jerry's last anniversary knife so special, few of us would have ever had the pleasure of owning this piece of Busse History!!!

 :D :D :D

I have already posted my first choice without great detail as to design. Another thing I would LOVE to see is a Fat (at LEAST .27" finished) Full Convex SFNO, satin with black paper slabs.

I am in awe of my SJTACLE with its satin full convex grind. And isn't the SFNO is pretty much the new generation SHSH (I blaspheme!) which many are asking for? The full convex grind would be a one time offering and the SFNO is a knife that is drawing a new generation of Busse fanatics. Everyone likes the SFNO. Perhaps a new treatment on the pommel as well.

I also have one of the few .27" SFNO's and I really like the heft of it.

Can we just make it Mag handles, please? :D

...And Mag handles for Paddling Man! I concur on that. Black Paper Magnums...another first for what would be a classic :D

Listen to these wise words.

I see 2 factions here. As I suggested earlier, 2 designs rebroadcast in a modern fashion. The Silent Knight is truly beautiful and obviously sought after and my original choice is similar to Dunners. A redesign of the NO. I'd love to see a hybrid of the STRipper style handle and Fusion Mags. You have to admit, the SFNO is one of the most chased after blades, and the Silent Knight is unattainable for many of us. Anyhow, not trying to be redundant.

Congratulations, Jerry! Lots of good blade from a grade-A guy in those years.

My thoughts paralell Eric -
1. First thought was the Silent Knight
2. But I was really thinking of the Knight Light. A very elegant blade, but still very useable. It captures a lot of the soul in your blades.

3. The Steel Heart is the definitive Busse knife. The grinds on the originals are amazing - practical, but well-thought and executed with artistry.
4. The Desert-Storm era field knives are also quintessential Busse style. Everything that you need, nothing that you don't, and tough enough to take you there and back.

5. Whatever you choose, execute with flair. Some of the best have been the Mojo blade catch, recurves, and handles - Apples and piano keys come to mind. Some of the flying serrations have been nice, but keep the lines flowing. Personally, I'm not a fan of serrations on different levels, or things that stick out excessively. Anyway, I know that you can take a beautifully ugly knife and make it visually amazing.
6. Test destructively, and post the pics - how cool would it be to see an Argonne Assault chopping cinder blocks? The anniversary blade should be worthy of the "Dirt Darts" that preceeded it.
7. Grind all the way to the spine. Full-height grinds are the way to go.
8. Spine marking would be great. A classic note that is pretty rare.
9. If you choose a classic model like the SH or Badger, make it different enough that it won't be mistaken for the originals, or future models. It would really be awful to completely lose the SH or Badger or Mean Street because it was retired after the anniversary run.

10. Have fun with it! No use celebrating an anniversary if the shop is bogged down with a boring or arduous run.

I would like to see a 5 to 6" blade, very stout construction somewhere in size between a BA-E and the NO-E. Not the same knife but something similarly robust and compact. Something that would be an ideal carry for a soldier in the desert during this time of war. It sounds like there are a lot of members of the community who are serving or who have served who like having a larger knife in the field and some who favor something of the size I am thinking of.

I think a design that reflects the time we live in and that might be carried by some of the men and women fighting for us, who chose to carry a Busse they know they can trust with their lives would be as fitting a tribute to this anniversary as any of the larger and wicked designs of the past.

As a serving member I completly agree with this idea !! I would love to have a robust SFNO type knife for everyday carry and as someone else suggested also offer a modernized version of the Silent Knight for others. Snakeskin handles would be unbelievable with a SFNO with some mods ( serrations possibly ?? ).:D

I think that since the SHSH essentially started it all, has been the flagship for more of those years than any other, and since that is the blade most people bought as their "do anything" blade,

- an anniversary INFI (spine marked) version of the SH1, beaked,
- with an optional INFI (marked) Terror, and appropriate pins/screws.
- Special (optional) anniversary sheaths, leather or kydex.

Just my $0.02

I've got to agree with Hammy! Porcine minds think alike! :D

Except also Heavy Ordinance Grade User with Magnum Handles.

Nick

I suggest a new model. And seeing as how its YOUR anniversary, what kind of knife design have YOU always wanted to put out but haven't been able to for some reason or another? I'm sure whatever you come up with will knock our socks off and we won't be able to resist!! You better get to drinking!!

This makes sense

I vote Steal Heart, but you should build a time capsule into each and every handle which would contain some piece of the original scrap you must have hidden in your warehouse... new INFI blade with a little bit of the 'old' inside.

Cheers

How about a Chute style knife?

Jerry's Anniversary Chute Knife
Oooh! Remember the storm last year over this idea? A Loveless-style chute in INFI would be the dog's bollocks.

THIS ONE GETS MY VOTE AS WELL. GREAT IDEA. Remake the original SHSHII with slotted bolts and all. Satin finish and 5/16. Make them all satins or DC.
