HOG homecoming !!!???!!! All my fingers and toes crossed that I can attend !!!!!Couple of notes for you High-Performance-HOGs. (HPH)
We intentionally made sure that the bent sword was visible in the Rockwell test pic, as the goal was to show that, not only was it able to survive that ridiculous degree of bend, but survived that bend at 62Rc.
On a side-note, ALL of these tests were performed with the same sword!
If you saw some of the House-Only-Grade videos (HOG Videos) that were meant for in-house only purposes, and you saw what this sword went through from start to finish, with the enormous number and severity of bends, etc., your minds would be blown!!!
We didn't publish the HOG Videos because the danger of someone out there trying to duplicate the tests we performed was determined to be too risky.

Just a 2 cents thing on the "expensive" aspect
the AK 47 was 600 ish way back 18 years ago ! so 100.00 ish more for this 3V sword that is doing the things it is doing in these video's is not bad in my opinion.
plus it saves me from doing more "Dave Brown" video's
I mean find me something else that has only went up 15ish % in 18 years
Yes I know but rubber handles, there are a lot of folks that have been wanting rubber handles on the Battle Mistress, AK, Rucki, MOAB, and so on.
My 2 cents for what it is worth![]()
3V hasn't been difficult to sharpen in my experience. I use a Wicked Edge and it takes an edge easily.Busse 3V is sounding a little like 'old INFI', in that it is higher hardness and higher edge holding than 'new INFI', but maintains the exceptional level of toughness of either INFI recipe. Also I assume it's a lot harder to sharpen, as the only downside.
Depends on edge thickness and angle and are you re-profiling or touching up. I don't like 3v for the same reason Cliff Stamp didn't. The apex will damage in use and mid carbon steels is easier to repair.3V hasn't been difficult to sharpen in my experience. I use a Wicked Edge and it takes an edge easily.
Thats something im hoping for, for us South Africans Busse's are unobtainable due to shipping, customs and Duties + sheath. With a weakening economy its gonna get worse.Any decision on what steel the Yard will use? SY-80 (80crv2) would be sweet![]()
Delta 3V has been proven and I'm guessing that Busse's heat treat will be very good. Anything that would damage 3V would probably have done worse to other steels.Depends on edge thickness and angle and are you re-profiling or touching up. I feel ya man, its no where near as bad for me im in Canada. But i can tell you by the time everything was said and done. I went from paying 730 usd to 1300 cad by the time it got here. And thats with no sheath.Thats something im hoping for, for us South Africans Busse's are unobtainable due to shipping, customs and Duties + sheath. With a weakening economy its gonna get worse.
I truly hope they can bring back the Value for money performance to keep costs down.
My coated TGULB with black canvas worked out close to 830usd.
We are running some INFI "Free Rein" swords along with some other steels in this next batch in order to do a direct side-by-side blind comparison with the exact same geometry.
We will publish the results when they are ready.
Should be fun!!!
