Busse folder patents

Sweet, looks like a cross between the Axis and Gerber's old Bolt Action (blackie collins design I think). Takes the best of both and doesn't infringe on either :p.

and I'll stick with my model T and it's 25 miles per gallon thank you very much all those fancy rubber seals and shocks and v-what haves you. totally poo-poo.

WOW ..

A knife is a bit different that a car....

minus the tongue out smiley it becomes a more serious comment then intended, hense why I inserted the smiley to show a level of sarcasm and disregard, taking the edge off it. I would prefer that qoutes of my words be kept accurate.

there are many difference between cars and knives, and the difference between the two lock styles is more fundamental then advances in motor technology.

at the same time, the difference between a liner lock and a spring loaded bar lock is that a piece of metal is pressed against a different part of the tang in order to keep it from rotating inward, and that piece of metal is held in place by a different mechanism. while there are many intuitive differences in the use of both, and each have different merits and drawbacks in their dynamics and strength/load bearing ability - they amount to essentially the same task. if that task is achieved with equal stability, then it becomes a matter of taste rather then functionality.

perhaps I should have been more specific in stating that I would prefer across the board that busse uses the spring loaded bar lock in its folder (which the patents show) as apposed to a liner lock or an integral liner lock, not that liner locks are inherently a bad design. I will defer to jerry as to why he chose a spring loaded bar lock instead of a liner type locking mechanism.

Looks awesome to me. I love my Griptilian, it's tough as hell and I think the axis lock is genius. The fact is, I will buy a Busse folder no matter what the locking mechanism turns out to be, because I have confidence that it will be a quality product. I have to admit, I always imagined the Busse folder would be more like a Sebenza. Hell, Busse could make a Delica with an INFI blade and I'd buy it.

I'm curious to see how this will look beside my prototype rat trap, could be interesting!!

As a quick clarification, the drawings in the patent don't necessarily represent the design of the commercial product. Patent drawings simply have to illustrate the function of the features from the claims at the end of the patent.

This Folder talk has folks all worked up:eek:

Peace:)

I'm kind of glad is has a bent handle...if it ever does come out my CC will be happy to get a break:p
I would never own a folder that didn't have a straight handle. Bent handle is great for push cuts, and thats about it.

I'm stoked!! A Busse folder would be the ideal blade to have in that outer pocket of your FBM sheath!!

The 'bashing' attitude is uncalled for fer Chrissake! Now, some constructive criticism might be in order but in the end, if it ever exists, it will still be a Busse. I mean; tip up - tip down, left hand - right hand, Micarta - G-10 things like that. Hey, you know what a cool, calm kinda guy I am on the forums and I am surprised at just who is negative, unsupportive and just nasty. Maybe somebody needs to be but down for their nap! I'll still be here when you wake up.

I agree with you on the nasty!...but if anyone wants to be negative or unsupportive I want them to feel like they can voice there opinion here in the Busse room. Thats how it should be I feel. Differant stokes for differant folks...we all can't like everything about every single Busse, and should feel free to voice our opinion if we don't.

I agree with ya Ken, 110% ... It's all good though. :)
Not all these knife forums on the internet are this subpressive...
I am not a fan of the catholic grade school vibe I ocasionally get around here.. :barf: ...........:barf:..

I don't really think it was getting nasty. Having opinions on knife locks\brands\etc, is just that...an opinion.

I buy Busse and support Busse...hell, just look at my sig.

I don't just buy Busse to buy Busse though...it's gotta be something I like and will use and have confidence in. In the end, it's Jerry's call.

But..If I say an axis lock sucks....should not be taken personally. I got a little edumacation and may check an axis out again....but, I still would love to see a framelock Busse:thumbup::thumbup::D

I guess that I've bitten my tongue long enough. Reading this thread has left me... well a little irritated. Those who are throwing negative comments around are throwing them at a bunch of illustrations on a patent. How can you say anything until you actually see, handle, & use the product? Who's to say that if Jerry releases the folder, there won't be be several significant changes to its design from what's shown in the patent document? Any folder lock will work well if enough attention to detail has been spent on it. Any folder lock will fail if no attention to detail has been spent. I say bring on the Busse folder, and I will reserve my opinion until I've actually used one.

I thought that you posted that you were taking those comments to a different place...? I am not a fan of the grade school vibe I occasionally get around here either. Know what I mean???

Okay moderator Leatherman! :p

Lighten up. Show a little respect to your fellow HOG, as you would expect to be shown to you, yes?
