Busse folder patents

Eesh...this thread got ugly. kinda surprised by it all.


The things that make me buy Busse are build quality, aesthetics, customer service and INFI. My opinion about the Busse Folder is that there are already MANY great folding knife makers out there who craft beautiful pieces of work which are also very reliable with great warranties.

Granted, it is just a patent illustration, but I don't find those illustrations to depict something I'd buy (aesthetically speaking).

Aside from that, IFNI probably won't make so much of a difference in a folding knife because of the inherent weakness of the folding knife in general.

I don't think I'd bite unless the knife looks VERY different when it's released (please...no RatTrap form factor) and comes in a variety of configurations.

I'll probably end up with a shorty XM18 or a Graham Brothers Folding Razel if they can make one with a framelock. For a folder, I prefer a framelock.

Now, maybe I can comission Jerry to make me a balisong out of INFI. THAT would be a very tough folder...

Holy Schmankin' Flagger!!!!. . . You guys are gettin' pretty stirred up over my utility patent drawings!!!. . . . Keep in mind that this is NOT a design patent. . . it is a utility patent. That means it only has to show the function NOT the design. . . ..

I designed the kidney bean model in the patent in 1996!. . . I know. . . it kinda looks like it!!!

The latest version looks NOTHING like those drawings!!! It is very cool . . . I'm sitting here, right now, opening it with two hands and a foot. . . Very rugged!!! :D

I'm startin' to think that you guys just hate drawings!!! Kinda reminds me of the SARsquatch drawings that I put up!!!!:eek:. . . I learned my lesson from that debacle!!!. . . NO MORE DRAWINGS!!! . . ..

If we could all just drink a little bit more, these threads would never get so heated up. . . So, here's what you do. . . . if you find yourself getting a little heated. . . pour some scotch, or beer, or vodka into your radiator hole and all will be well ! ! ! !

Works for me!. . . Let's drink!!!

Exactly the discussion was not bad and was not even getting close to a nasty discussion, I was expressing my opinion isn't that what forums are for? No need to get all touchy, Catholic grade school LOL! :D

I don't just buy Busse to buy Busse though...it's gotta be something I like and will use and have confidence in. In the end, it's Jerry's call.

But..If I say an axis lock sucks....should not be taken personally. I got a little edumacation and may check an axis out again....but, I still would love to see a framelock Busse:thumbup::thumbup::D

Thanks for the update Jerry.. I have no doubt the folder will be very nice when(if) it gets released.. :thumbup:
If it has the same warranty ans any other Busse I am positive it will be a beast. I just hope it is not too large in over all size...

We all know what'll happen if a folder ever drops. Some of us will buy tens of them, a lot of us will grab one or two, and Jerry will get richer. We buy Busse knives...that's why we're here, right?

A lot of time has passed since that drawing was first made, and I'm SURE Jerry's made some changes. We all know he's a stickler for design, and that form must meet function.

Oh, and D, David contacted me yesterday to let me know about a 3" XM18 for sale, and by the time I'd clicked the link in the email, it was sold. 1000$, dood. Wow.

Oh, and you should probably get in contact with bluelinegear to try and get on his Rick's waiting list. By the time your name comes up you'll have more than enough money for it. ; )

After holding the XM18 at your friends house I was sold. Any pic just does not do it justice. Once I pay off the proto I need to focus on a XM18. Uncless this darn NMFBM pops.. :eek:

:yawn: Funny how me saying that I'll wait to use a Busse folder before giving an opinion to it is translated to me drinking too much Kool-Aid and not being able to remove my head from Jerry's A$$... Maybe if you pulled your head out of your own arse long enough to actually read the top of my post, you'd get what I said... But I guess that we've now moved to the schoolyard mentality, complete with insults. Whatever... :rolleyes:

I may be more excited about the future Busse folder than I am for my own wedding in two weeks. (I hope there are two size options.)
