Busse Folder Steel

I'm kinda intrigued by the reviews of Busse's Elmax. Something that can slice and slice with minor touch ups.
The Busse Slicer is my first Elmax blade, but I've been very impressed with it. My normal benchmark for stainless blades are M390/20CV. I rarely have to sharpen them and I use them daily.

The Slicer has kept it's edge during my extended bird processing sessions (breast, legs and thighs). I used it for a tower shoot and probably did close to 30-40 pheasants. Used it in a 3 day sea duck hunting trip and did close to 50 birds. It still had a really sharp edge after each trip. The previous knife I used for processing was a S30V. It would start to lose it's edge after a dozen birds.

It depends on the folder, I suppose.

For Busse, with a combat-minded DNA, I would expect something in INFI. Tougher than nails and can take someone to hell and back without even a blink.

On the other hand, I think an extreme slicer would complement their fixed blade lineup. Fixed blade for the rough and tumble, fine-edged slicer for the folder. Something in their excellently treated ELMAX? Maybe they're gonna try Magnacut. Heck, even a thin stocked SR-101 will be killer.

Ya know, knowing to use the right tools for the right job is part of a good warrior's abilities. Sometimes you need tools with brute strength while finesse and precision are key at other times. A warrior and a gentleman don't have to be mutually exclusive.

I like that idea of a slicer to complement the fixed. I could see having different steels and handles at different price points.

Of the steels I have owned from Busse. I would choose Elmax for its corrosion resistance and edge retention. I could see a new steel being thrown into the mix for this one. Maybe Magnacut?
I have a Spyderco Mule in Magnacut, but I'm waiting for handles to come in stock. I'd love to put the knife to use, but I'm not going to use it without some actual handles.

Yeah what the hell are you guys talking about! A Busse folder not in INFI would simply not be a Busse! It would be a rat trap or a dumpster folder.
A Rat Trap or Dumpster Folder in 1/8" or even 3/32" SR-101 With a high flat grind would be awesome.
I have a Spyderco PM2 In 52100, forced a vinegar patina on it, and it's been an awesome player in my EDC rotation. I'd imagine a well thought out slicey geometry with SR-101 will give that PM2 a really good run for it's money, and fight for pocket time.
