Oh I know, my friendYip I have been here for years... love INFI. New account so looks like im new![]()
Ok you convinced me... I will take a folder in infi. I think it might priced a little high for me.Oh I know, my friend![]()
It's possible they've tried higher hardness, but the sweet spot is probably where Jerry settled on 58-60. Those higher numbers can be found on Tool Steels like M4 from Spyderco's Gayle Bradley if you really need high RC numbers. Heat treating is a True Art to get the most from a particular steel, not all heat treats are equal for the same steel from different manufacturers. Not that i will ever get an answer for this but i wonder how high hrc infi can go? Cuz if its a folder if infi can get to like 62-63 then why not.
I call BS!Let’s face it , even if they make a folder would it be as good a Buck 110 or any run of the mill Spyderco ? I personally would like to see a few more offerings in EDC fixed blades like the Game Warden . Most of us can’t tell the using / cutting difference between a “Hinderer” and a “Zero Tolerance Hinderer”. P.S. Happy Sunday
So, for liner or frame lock you would like the locking part to be made of a steel that does rust fairly easyly?I have a swamp rat folder. If busse made a folder, I think it would be cool if they did the following.
Make the clip out of infi. I don't know how many pocket clips on folders I've bent, and infi from all the tests I've seen online is one HELL of a springy steel for lack of better terminology.
Make the liner out of some of their steel as well. I would have said SR101, but since that is a thing of the past, maybe the 50100B? Solid steel with no liner, and machined texture. Just to hold up to the busse reputation.
For the steel, depends on the size of the knife. If they offer a "small" under 3" blade I'd say elmax all day. But if its over 3" blade, and thicker, I'd say infi would also be awesome.
Just some thoughts after playing with the old swamp rat folder I got.
Gotcha. Young piglet here. My understanding was the steel was theirs. And I've had some corrosion on my sr101, but I don't think most people are chucking their folders into salt water and letting them sit.So, for liner or frame lock you would like the locking part to be made of a steel that does rust fairly easyly?
... and Rat Trap was not actually made in Busse Compound... (maybe the prototypes were)
What do you mean? The folder has been promised for so long now that I'm just kind of over it. I still respect the knives and recommend them, just tired of the games
