Busse for sale/trade forum?

Maybe I'm suspicious by nature, or maybe I learned it from experience.... I have the impression some people are already getting organized to bump each others threads by pretending to ask questions.

Cougar - Never a problem with you and have always respected/enjoyed your posts. I assure you that, if people are organizing to do just that, I haven't heard about nor would I condone it. I think any rule can be abused but healthy and active moderation of those posts should put an end to abuse. I still think "PM/Email sent" is a good and fruitful way to give some feedback to the seller... "Yo! Here I am!! I've got an offline question or offer but don't want to post it in the thread. I need your attention NOW before someone else says I'LL TAKE IT in the thread."

It should be relatively clear to see who the BS'ers are and I fully condone busting their chops.

I really think (I could be naive here) that most of the chatter, Busse chatter at least, was not intended to bump a thread for a buddy but more of a discussion/envy/drool over the blade. It *is* needless, however fun, and can (should) be limited to the actual discussion forums. :D

If things don't work out after the last amendment of rules, there is another solution: (I don't like it but...) Sale/Trade threads can only be posted in by the original poster. Any responses by a buyer would be conducted via PM or Email. The seller could modify with pics, prices and availability. BTTT once every... 24 hours? :o

Why not put a disclaimer in your sale thread- something like "please PM or Email with questions, First 'I'll take it' gets it."

Or "Please start a new thread in (X) forum if you want to comment on or discuss this knife." (in the case of some fancy or rare knives, this would be a good idea- for most knives, people could just not say anything)

I doubt this is the case, it would be easy for most of the Busse forumites to do if they wanted, but I don't really see it happening. The Busse HOG's would easily be able to spot this if it were the case, but I doubt it will be the case. However, this is one of the reasons I have suggested that Busse HOG's moderate the forum if they were forced to separate from the main for sale forum. Of course when I first suggested it everyone shouted me down, including the other moderators, however, I really do know what I'm talking about.

I could bump every Busse on the for sale forum without raising suspicions(as long as I didn't do it all at once) but I would never do that.

Of course another reason to have Busse HOG's moderate their own forum (if we were forced to separate) is that we have a general knowledge of the forumites, and if they intentionally were breaking the rules or just ignorant of them.

I honestly do not want the Busse sales to be separated from the main forum. I actually think it would hurt the main forum more than the Busse for sale forum.

I think that if the new rules are properly enforced it will solve most of the problems. I'm sure that the Busse forumites will also help self-police the for sale forums to help out while forumites are becoming accustomed to the new rules.

:D:D

OK, so I just noticed a busse forsale post that break the BTT rule, I guess I should report it?

If I cant BUMP one for someone going to the big sandbox then who can I bump for?? What kind of AMERICANS are we anyway??!!

This seems a little blatent does it not? Pure BS.

I just reported 3 busse threads for violation of bumping rules. According to raden this needs to be enforced fairly. Seems to me people just aren't getting the rules or think it doesn't apply to them.

I feel you... (I always wanted to say that.)

After I posted this thread and it got locked...

I felt the need to put a disclaimer on this one...

I agree with Isaacson. (Don't get used to that phrase, Eric.)

Did you also report the spyderco and Chris Reeve posts that were in violation in the first five or six posts?

It will take time for these rules to mesh.

I apologize for repeating myself. But I don't think my post or any posing similar questions got a response.

What exactly is the definition of "bogging down", "overwhelming traffic", "overwhelming number", etc and the other rhetoric being tossed around? There's about two pages of posts to sort through a day on the production knives for sale forum. I and a few other members have noted it takes them less than a minute to browse the ads when logging into BF.

I just don't see the point in all this fuss?

It seems to me there's been a lot of inflammatory rhetoric on both sides of this and it's feeding on itself and interfering with clear thinking. If we could all agree that Busse fans are not baby-eating ogres and people who want to split the forum are not genocidal fascists, we might find we can think about the idea of splitting the forum more rationally.

Could you please send that to Washigton D.C.?

Whether folks want to hear it or not - it is a Psychological fact that closely knit communities with a strong common interest develop a group psyche.
Outsiders see what the group stands for and how they conduct themselves.
If the entrance fee to the group is ownership of a certain brand of lets say motorcycle, many only buy the motorbike to be part of the group.
Once part of the group, the group mentality takes over and most members thus act accordingly.
The added protection of anonymity strengthens that bond and bravado.
We are invincible.
We will do as we please.
We will hunt together and look after our own - and you are fair game if you cross any one of us.
We are the untouchables.

Interesting.

So now, the whole is judged by the actions of the few?

A couple of bad Australians makes all Australians suspect?

Amazing how the prejudicial mindset takes over....

Not a question of prejudicial at all.
Take football fans.
Individually very nice people.
Put them in a like minded group and ten to one they behave like idiots.
It is the nature of the beast.

Ratty, insulting me will not get you anywhere.
But I'll lower myself to your level, so you can understand me better....
The fact that you describe yourself as "Castigator of Dunderheads" just proves that you are a rather sad little guy with a inferiority complex and an overblown fixation with your own importance.
Is it all part of your Internet mask, or are you a little turd in real life as well?
If so, do yourself (and all of us) a favour and either give up the Internet and/or go see a psychiatrist.

I think you just described yourself pretty well.

Since you enjoy making with the amateur psycho-babble, you should know that this is what's called "projection". . .

You are trying to compensate for your own shortcomings by projecting them upon me. Good luck with that. May I suggest a visit to a couch and a long conversation about your mother. Maybe some anxiety medication.

There is always room for one more. . .
