Busse for sale/trade forum?

Skunk, could you please TRY to be less aggressive and more coherent?

Please disregard my request for a Busse-free for sale forum.
I have come to the conclusion that there are people posting here who are too wrapped up in their own little knife world to debate anything.
I cannot put an idea forward and try to have a calm and rational discussion with those who are just not capable of doing so.

new bump rules will fix all this with no prob... folks pay good money to list their blade in the general populace, if we're not allowed to do that then why upgrade, i know i wouldn't and won't.

I guess your version of a "debate" involves everyone agreeing with your agenda? That is not a debate. You didn't start a thread about unfair bumping and chatting in sale threads, you advocated segregating a brand of knives just because you don't like them. . .

I think I hear a tiny violin playing just for you.

Deleted because I made an unnecessary inflammatory comment while angry.

With all due respects, of course the original request(s) did not come from the Busse community.
Why should it?
Is it important?

No, don't hold yourself responsible. The original request came long before you requested it again, and the earlier threads were even more inflamed than this one, with lots of rhetoric from both sides. They tired themselves out and couldn't think of anything more to say right away and the threads dropped off the front page, but they were all set to start right in again....

Hey Coug, could you convince my wife that I am a baby eating ogre? I figure maybe she'll stop making me change diapers if she thinks i'll gobble the little one up. :D

It won't work. Your wife knows ogres are only interested in eating babies in clean diapers. She'll wait until after you've changed the diaper to snatch the baby away from you.

I'd just like to point something out. The ones that are most opposed to the subforum aren't the ones "polluting" the main sale forum. As innocents, they are fighting against being punished, and I agree that they should, tooth and nail.

I believe that the individuals causing the congestion should be contacted and informed of forum etiquette, with infractions, etc following on future violations. Hold those responsible, responsible.

Folks, I haven't made my mind up yet. Please discuss this issue courteously and in a calm and rational manner. There is no need for anyone to get hot under the collar, not at all. I'm a very reasonable man and I would like to hear both sides of the issue before I make a final determination that pisses someone off.

I think with the new 72hr rule there shouldn't be any problems at all. I think any subforum will detract from the visibility of the sale item. If people are to lazy to look at a few pages of sale adds then they are probably to lazy to walk to the mailbox to get any knives they purchase.

* I think "chatter" posts should get the infraction. Not the thread originator seeing his Gold/Platinum membership sale thread locked out.

* I would like to see "Email Sent" retained as a way to notify the seller of an email that might otherwise be missed. Currently, Dann said this would be considered a chatter bump. I would hope it would qualify as "interest" or a question. It is inappropriate to give lower offers and/or no one else's business what you offer as trade.

Email sent indicates to me an intent to purchase. Why would that fall under the "no bump rule"?

Maybe I'm suspicious by nature, or maybe I learned it from experience.... I have the impression some people are already getting organized to bump each others threads by pretending to ask questions.

Is there any need to post at all? If you have a question why not ask in email or a PM?

Why do you need to post "email sent" or "PM sent"? If his computer exploded he won't see your post either....

Cougar, I know sometimes when using the BF email system the messages are not always sent, or sometimes they are sent to an old email address because someone didn't update their information. I usually try to include my email address in my trade posts to avoid any confusion, but I just thought I'd point that out since I've dealt with it in the past.

I didn't read through this whole thread, but I had a question about a particular point raised on this page. I don't really understand how it would reduce visibility of the item. If someone wants to buy a secondary market Busse, they will go to the Busse subforum. If someone goes to the main sale section expecting to see Busse's there, we could just have a sticky posted for a week or two to help notify people of the change. They'd still show up on the new posts list and people just looking for Busse's wouldn't have to sift through Spydercos & the like.

That is my understanding as well. An 'email sent' post should not be considered a bump as it is directly related to the sale of the knife, i.e. intent to purchase...

No reason to segregate in my opinion. I think the new rules as well as punishment of violators is enough...

"PM Sent" or "E-mail Sent" provides a notice to others that the knife may already have been spoken for, especially considering it is primarily a first-come/first-serve basis. As a prospective buyer, my instinct is to look elsewhere for other deals unless I see another post by the seller indicating that a deal was not made and that the knife is still available for sale.

I have yet to purchase a Busse (or within the Busse family) in the For Sale forum, but I agree with those who think that Busse should not be segregated from the general For Sale forum. Anyone not looking to purchase a Busse can easily move onto the next thread or the next page. As long as the seller properly marks the thread, and as long as other members do not needlessly bump up the thread with idle chatter, I see no reason to change.

If I had a Busse for sale, I'd still post in the general sale forum, even if there was a separate Busse sale sub-forum...

And your thread would be moved by the mods. They have already stated that they would move Busse for sale threads to the Busse FS forum if it is created.
