I am out of popcorn so I'll have to munch on a candy bar. What distances some folks from Busse knives is directly related to their price point. No big enigma here. And yes, there are a bunch of people who have never picked up one let alone use the blade in the field. Another critic has pointed out that they are over-built, thick wedges of steel.
Busse blades are excellent tools that have been proven in the field. I still use my Basic 9 for all manner of tasks and it just keeps going with nary a moan...that knife was purchased WAY back in the day. Frankly, I am amazed at how semi-rare they are. Try picking one up for a song at a local gun show! Good luck, you just won't see them. I suspect the Scrapyard knives will also be very high on the 'collected' list one day. The Dogfather impressed me as being just about as bullet proof as you can get... and the steel in this knife has lived up to all my expectations. I don't see that much difference in performance when contrasted with my INFI blades.
Had to smile a bit at the 9mm comments. No, the little round is not a .505 Gibbs, but when sizing up your options, take a hard look at Hornady's nifty new 135 grain projectile. My glock will be fed with the 'Critical Duty' pills. For you .40 lovers out there, Hornady presents a 175 grain bullet that also delivers splendidly as touted. These rounds are game changers in every sense of the word.
Still like the older hog-legs in .357 magnum and of course the beloved .44 Dirty Harry pistol, but that .45 auto (if cleaned and maintained correctly) will always be my safety blanket on a dark night when that horrid sound of breaking glass invades my circle.
