Busse Head? Porkers?

Busse makes thick. Busse Makes Thin, Busse makes in between.

The really great part? The Whole family! Busse, Swamprat, Scrapyard. Talk about options, designs, and steels!

I own a KZII, and a B11 (and CABS, MUCK, SarQ, BAD). Even though I have two excellent big choppers, I have been sick about the 1311 from scrapyard. 13.5 inches of Sr101 for under 2 bills. I am starting to shake over here trying to resist it! I have also had Ash1CG, a different BAD, SS, GW, FBMLE that have had to move on.

I have "enough" Busse, but I still have to fight off most offerings (usually accompanied by shaking, chills, salivating etc).

Lots of great makers (custom and production) out there. For some reason, I have not bought anything other than Busse and folders for years. Mostly, because I have the money invested in them, and have not had any disposable income for a while (other than for traditional slip joint folders, most in "inferior non Infi crap" 1095 that I love).

One of the real problems with Busse hate are the newbies (I should maybe phrase this "causes", and I am pretty new to the trough my self, only in the past 5 years or so getting my first taste). They find out about Busse, place and order, then run around yelling (read typing loud) in every thread they can find "if its not Busse, its crap"

People who would other wise not care two whits about Busse, are shouted at, and told anything they own is crap if it is not Busse.

This is especially poor form, when considering the most excellent attitude of any one working in the Busse Family. The Boss goes out of his way to be courteous to everyone. No name calling, no denigrating. Just Pure Class from everyone in the Busse Family (and I really mean that!)

There is no need for it, and it is, quite frequently some one who has never held one yet, or if they have one, has not used it beyond cutting some cucumbers for a salad, and whacked a branch or two with it.

Busse, Scrapyard and Swamprat are at the top of their industry, not because they talk bad about others, but because they simply produce! They make Stellar knives, in so many different options. They are never content to rest on their laurels. I feel, that if the Boss were not incessantly bugged by us to re release models, he would never make the same model twice. He is just that creative (this goes for the "family" knives as well).

When I am in other's threads, I still recommend Busse, Scrapyard, and Swamprat. I try to do so courteously, and without chest thumping. I want others to come into the trough (or swamp, or yard), and feel welcome. No "Us vs. Them"

Very true. Well said

ppl bash on you because you jack the prices up and are arogant cause you are convinced that your knife is better than all others and worth the 600 your wife or lack there of aloud you to spend on your a knife that for the most part never gets used. especially in the absurd nuclear way its marketed to poor combat kids with no money for a battle mistress. this a forum for knife users not greedy hogs that want to baby there indestructable nuclear investment. u asked im just bein honest

spell check? nope.
grammar check? nope.
ever handled or used a Busse or Bussekin knife? not likely.

there are a LOT of Busse and kin blades well under $600.
There are also far more caring & generous folks posting up on the Busse & SRKW forums than those that give the Hogs, Dogs, & Rats a bad rep.

what about the Fehrman fanboys? I've handled (not owned) a couple of Busses and I loved them and I will definitely get my Game Warden someday (don't care for the big knives, I use a kukri for the rough stuff), but the second I got my hands on the Peacemaker I fell in love. Watching the videos from sigma3survivalschool and reading reviews comparing Busses and Fehrmans made me a "Fehrman".
And, as already said, if I wanted to abuse a knife, I'm pretty sure that no known blade-manufacturer out there could make something that would take as much abuse as a 0.4'' thick Ang Khola.

BSB,

You have received a warning. THe only one I see bashing another is you. Now, I dont have time to discuss why you are wrong, but I will simply say you are mis-informed. I have been in marketing for the better part of my life, and cant recall one instance of Busse's being marketed to poor combat kids.

Now, you opened this can so for now as long as it stays nice it will stay opened. I thank everyone here you have insulted in advance to have mercy in their response:)

I got to handle a Fehrman Peacemaker this past weekend -- nice knife.

The peole who say Busse knives are not worth the price are right. In their value system a Busse knife is not worth to them personally what they would have to pay for it.

Those (including me) who believe that Busses are well worth the price are also right, in our value system.

The common mistake comes in extrapolating our personal values to the population as a whole. In terms of personal economics this is a supreme error. This is the error they make every time they run down Busse knives, the belief that their personal standard should by default be the standard of everyone else. In turn, it would be extremely arrogant of me to presume that my personal standard should be everyone's.

To some people the satisfaction of knowing they have the best, that will never let them down even though they will likely never stretch the knife's capabilities to it's limits, is of definite, although perhaps intangible, value. To others, "just good enough to get by" is a way of life. That's their value system, and I don't hold it against them. (Although in a candid moment I might admit that I pity them a little bit.)

When a willing buyer and a willing seller both walk away from the transaction satisfied, then proper value has been established between those two individuals, and no one else should have any say in it.

Actually, BladeForums is a forum dedicated to those who appreciate fine edged tools, regardless of price. This sub forum is for those who prefer Busse(kin), regardless of use.
Wanna tell me how much a full season ticket package costs to watch the Flyers (I am taking a small leap in assuming that you are a Flyers fan by your forum name) play at the Wells Fargo Center, and who that is marketed towards? ;):)

I'm willing to wager a Fat Battle Mistress can handle anything a .40 AK can......and then some. While a fine product in its own right, the AK can handle most anything thrown at it. But to believe its primative forging and heat treat can compete and surpass some of the best steels and modern heat treat is just plain silly. Again, I'm NOT knocking the AK ( I have owned a few and still own a Bolo).

And I love Fehrman Knives. I just cleared a 20x20 section of my yard this evening with my Extreme Judgment. And I'm sure it will outlast the AK also, just technologically superior.

I occasionally see some derogatory comment about Busse aficionados, but I don't recall seeing the same thing about Becker Heads

That's cuz Beckerheads are so durned cool. :p :D

Ah Fehrman! I have one of the original First Strikes and its way up there on my favorite knives ever. I am a big fan of them. :)

Durn straight! From a fan of Becker knives before I ever heard of Busse.
Oh, you said Beckerheads. . . :foot:
Snorted perfectly good wine all over my computer!!!!! :D :D :D

im not wrong they are called busse combat knives, everyone i know thats gone overseas to combat could not afford a battle mistress or any infi blade. i dont hate busse knives.the nuclear marketing and enormous price tag for overrated steel and g10 and closeminded ego stoking of many of the people that own there knives is what turns me off.its not a matter of worth the money for the average knife nut most people on this forum simply cant afford infi its not that they havnt held one or think they are bad. guys its not magical its just steel the small percentage of gain isnt worth the difference junglas for 130 and the new hogfish is like 650. how how can not see they are overpriced and overhyped. if you are buying for investment than i feel bad for your blades cause they are built to used. but im sick of hearin that your knife is the best its worth the bragging rights and my blade is garbage cause its not the bosses infi
