BUSSE OR MADDOG?

I have managed to get a hold of various tubing and I'll try hacking them apart after I finish evaluating the cutting performance of some blades in case it causes actual gross damage. I suspect that it won't though. I'll probably so some test cutting with a few already damaged blades to get an estimate of what to expect.

Joe, by the way did you get a chance to examine the edge and point geometry on any of the Strider knives? There was a post in MD forum awhile back with another member having seen someone from Strider beating the blade about with little effect :

At that time I just passed it off as possibly the knife having a very acute point and edge. But now I am beginning to wonder if there is more to it than that.

Did you actually mean "very obtuse"?

The Strider knives are hollow grind, sabre grind. Really different from Mad dog. The edge varied from knife to knife, it didn't feel monstrously thick at the very very edge, but thickened up pretty quickly. I'd need to cut with it before I came to any conclusions, but I don't think the edge is too terribly thick.

Semantics, we are looking at it in two different ways. But yes, I just mean a thicker wedge shape.

That's good to hear. The commentes on the profiles are interesting - I would have expected them to be significantly thick to explain the reported durabilities.
