Busses and Whisky

You need to add a .jpg to the end of the imgur address and then bracket it with the [1MG] [/1MG] codes. Except use an "I" where I used a "1." You end up with this:

Boy have I got a malt for you folks! Out of Ontario, so might be more of a local thing as that's just across the lake from here~ It's had some well received reviews. One review was "big bodied" and "full of fresh garden fruits" but what hooked me was the 60.8 ABV  This smacks those 43's "Right in the kisser Alice! To the Moon!" :D:D:D Partnered with my dirty and beaten TGULB ;) .... If you don't mind that young, grassy/fruity freshly mowed hay kind of vibe, this is it. Kind of reminds me of a Dalwhinnie 15 without being watered down and 20 bucks cheaper. It's a NAS but you can tell, she's just a baby

OK, it's been too long- All the people forced to stay home I know there's some drinking going on- But then again, maybe most of us are the "Expendables" and have been too busy to crack one open. So for today a double shot! 2 brand new ones for me- *sadly the Hedonism is all gone* But I see this Glenfiddich "Fire&Cane"~ (campfire and candy? f* yeah I'll try it) and finally after passing it over time and again I grabbed the Compass Box Oak Cross which I'm savoring at the moment. There is something so "CB" in the pallet of this, and also really familiar so like all the other CB mysteries, this feels lovely and I'm right at home with it. I'll Crack the Glenfiddy later, it's one of their experimental projects and if anyone has had it I'd love to hear it!
And I thought it was a good time to pull out the old SE-A2 Gemini and see how my bluing job was holding up and she still looks like the day I finished her up.

I caught this one on sale a week and a half ago and I have to say, this is a pretty luxurious pour and I'll say it's worth the money. To put that into perspective I just realized, I look at Scotch buys like women see shoes when there's a sale discount on the sticker LOL! That discount screams *It's almost free it's such a good price* ....
funny thing, when I DL this photo to my library and went to resize it I have 2 other photos that say "Glen18":eek::eek: ~ I was certain I hadn't had this, I would have remembered the pretty box. Turns out the others were Glenfiddich18 and Glenmorangie18 and when I think back on those? I think I'd buy this as my first choice hands down. Maybe I have something to shoot for, all the "Glen 18's" ??? All Scotch that start with a G also start with Glen - but man, there's a lot of them for some reason- I'm sure there's a reason somewhere.
End of the day, this is a pretty sweet pour....as the amount of airspace in the bottle will attest too :D And what better to pair it with than a fat slice of HOGB8 War Feather ;)

Leonardo63 Leonardo63 Glenlivet is always a good choice in my opinion. If you want a great 18 year old from them, go to their distillery and they have a special 18 year that you bottle yourself. It's very similar to their 25 year which is fantastic.

Also see if you can hunt down an older bottle of the Glenmorangie 18, I like it much better than the newer 18.

Monkey shoulder - quite good one. I like it same as Copper Dog.
My favorite is Woodford Reserve - we had it yesterday for some family celebration but could not bring busse on table as too many small kids around ;)
Anyway, my taste has changed during the years. Now I like it in "room temperature" no ice, and cold pepsi at hand but, just to sip it from time to time.

It's Stock Up Saturday! and a 2fer~ First time seeing this Caribbean Cask on the shelf so had to snag it. Also grabbed another Glenmo- Lasanta as I really like it.
I got to thinking, it's got to be close to a year since you influencer's opened Pandora's Scotch box on me so I'm doing my part to keep this one alive but I feel like there's some slackin going on :p
edit- So I just went back through here- I posted my first bottle on April 10th, roughly 60 corks ago. Looking back, it's been fun and an interesting learning experience. I've spent from $35 to $350 on bottles with the average probably 80-100. My most memorable bottle has to be Glenmorangie Signet. It's not cheap but one I wouldn't hesitate to buy again without a second thought. The most exciting journey was finally scoring a bottle of Highland Park Ice Edition, that took some work and it was well worth it (and still a little left). In the same note I have to be honest and say I like a Chivas Regal 12 as much as anything costing $120 more in most cases. Biggest takeaway? Price doesn't mean diddly~ It's been fun and I have enjoyed and appreciated your guidance and advice and has certainly been all about the adventure! with no regerts! :D

I think that Caribbean Glenlivet is newish, probably why this is the first time you've seen it. How is it?I before I saw the picture, I thought you had picked up the Balvenie Caribbean version.

You definitely dove into the whisky pool with both feet! Chivas Regal 12 was my first taste of scotch, at the Strathisla distillery no less, so I almost always have a bottle.

You have had some great bottles along the way!

So I did some looking and yes, this is newish- from what I saw it was released last month? - How is it? It's young, a little shallow but it was also not expensive. I would have like more complexity but in my experience, you really do need to spend a few bucks for that. A good example I can give are some of the Compass Box blends that imho have been worth every penny. One I could point out is the Hedonism, that was the most amazing $100 bottles I've bought. Flaming heart was also incredible.
Ironically the first bottle I bought was the Balvenie double barrel *Oak and Caribbean cask* and I should revisit that one because at the time I didn't know sht from shinola about what I was experiencing. Yes, I've had some amazing whisky along the way, no doubt about that :thumbsup::thumbsup:
I have certainly developed some favorites too. When it comes to Isla's and the peated malts my hat goes off to Lagavulin 16 as the gold standard. For a good Sherry cask the pinnacle is probably the Tamdu but I really like the Lasanta for it's price point. I've also had a couple bottles of the Nikka Pure malt which for the price is awesome but I have to also mention the Texas Malt from Balcones and I really would like to find another bottle of Classic Laddie from Bruichladdich, for the money that was a nice one. Lastly the one limiting factor is availability - There's a number of others I still want to try but so many are hard to find.
In summary, completing my freshman year I've learned a lot and cleared a wide swath in the standards that were available :D ... and honorable mention must go to my table which has many stab marks in it. I bought that from a buddy more than 30 years ago and it has come time to bid it farewell so this is probably the last summer for it. She's adorned a couple of our back decks over the years but has reached the point where it is time.
