Alright, to properly welcome BM to (in my opinion) the finest Knife Forums on the internet, we have decided to form a Benchmade Knife Enthusiast Club... The Butterfly Brigade.
I first was introduced to BM during my first deployment with A Co, TF SHADOW during OEF X-XI, RC South. She was an Auto Presidio, and she was the finest knife I had ever owned. Fast forward two years and one deployment later, I found this great website and was able to share in my love of all things pointy and sharp with other like-minded individuals. The only thing missing was representation from one of my favorite knife companies around, Benchmade!
And now, here we are. We BM enthusiasts have a sub-forum all our own, with gracious representation from BMK Co themselves. It seems only fitting for us to show our love of their tools, collectibles and hard-use alike, by "signing on the dotted line" and letting everyone know.
Membership in the Brigade is simple. Follow these six rules:
1) Must have some type of paid membership to bladeforums, or be an unpaid member of bladeforums who has carried or had a Benchmade Knife issued in the line of duty (i.e. LEO, Military, DoD Civilians, etc.)
2) Must have 50 posts (seems standard) of value in the BM sub-forums; this rule is waiverable if you have 14 posts of value by the 14th day of the BM sub-forum's opening.
3) Must own at least one Benchmade Knife
4) Treat others with respect... members and non-members alike
5) NO brand-bashing; obviously you can compare your BM's favorably to other brands, but simply saying "XYZ sucks!" won't work
6) And obviously, you must love Benchmade Knives!
We have proposed a points-based system for bragging rights. Points are tallied as such:
1 pt per BM Red, Blue, or Black class knife owned
1 pt per BM knife pre-ordered
2 pt per BM Automatic knife owned
2 pt per limited edition/first production BM knife owned
2 pt per BM Balisong owned
5 pt per BM Gold Class knife owned
5 pt for visiting BM factory (5 pt max)
5 pt for visiting BM booth at SHOT Show (5 pt max)
