Buying from bladehq and knifecenter what do you suggest

Do you know someone there?

I'm about to buy a couple BMs from BladeHQ; a big expenditure for me. If they could check first and send me knives with low/no blade play... I would pay extra for that service!!

Is this something I can request as just some regular internet buyer?

^ Absolutely! And both of these Dealer's provide excellent C.S., from my own experience.:thumbsup:

If I were to give you one bit of advice, it would be this:
Instead of ordering directly off either site, pick up a phone and make a call to whichever dealer you decide to deal with. Speak to one of their employee's, or owner, and establish a rapport with that person. It's amazing, the exceptional customer service you receive when you actually interact with a live human being!

No just a great company to deal with; like Joe said anyone who answers the phone there will help you out. Just ask.

i understand both are amazing companies and i have used both but i neglected to make a blade hq account at first and now on knife center i have a 50 dollar reward does anyone know what the reward system is like on blade hq? the way the drops have been coming all my money has been going to knife center.

Both BladeHQ and Knifecenter have return policies which essentially allows you to be sure you get something you're satisfied with. I've bought from both for several years. If I ever have an issue with a knife, it's as simple as sending an email/report and shipping it back to them for a refund, exchange, or replacement. Of course, this goes without saying, but don't abuse the return/refund system, as these policies are already for our benefit.

Also if you spend enough with knifecenter you can get pretty good rewards; I have a couple codes for $50 discounts from several years of shopping with them.

BladeHQ does not have the same kind of coupon reward system. However, they produce free entertainment in the form of videos on youtube, have a better and wider selection of products, and have more/better sales (limited time discounts on certain products). Knifecenter ships internationally, while BladeHQ does not (at least not to me in Singapore), so there's that as well.

For me personally, they each have their ups and downs. I would sign up for a BladeHQ account if I were you, just to get their updates and newletters about sales and new products.

I just had a great experience with BHQ and would not hesitate to deal with them again. They impressed me enough to post a thread in TGBU yesterday. Great people.

I just purchased a knife from BladeHQ. I ordered online on a Sunday. The order receipt said 24-48 hrs to process. 24 is okay but 48 is a bit long for this day in age. It is not like ordering from Sears or Montgomery Wards from years ago. Things have changed relative to our expectations. They shipped and notified me of the shipment and it just seemed to be stalled in UT. Then I see it was shipped and it appeared quickly via USPS at my home. So, all & all, okay overall.

Have had good experiences with Knife Center. Also have had very good experiences with KSF, DLT, and New Graham.

Hi 22-rimfire,

Our goal is always to get items out in 24 hours. Every once in a while something happens, and that's why the policy says 24-48. I am glad you got your knife with no problems.

Thanks,

Mark

The experience was just fine overall, perhaps a little sluggish at first. It was my first order from BladeHQ. I think that by placing an order on Sunday as many others may do, it pushes manpower to it limits on Monday if there are a lot of folks doing the same thing as me. I'm pleased with the knife by the way.

I like that BladeHQ does videos on Youtube. I enjoy watching them, to an extent, as everything said within must be taken with a grain of salt.

With that being said, I prefer Knifecenter.com. They've always been good to me. I've made a few returns over the years, never an issue. Furthermore, their reward system is excellent. You get the added bonus of freebies and the reward points, double win.

To make a long story short, Knifecenter charged me $90 restocking fee for a knife I returned.
You see, KC gets to pick and choose what they consider Mid-tech vs a hand made custom.
Rockstead knives are "handmade custom knives" according to KC. And thus charge you the restocking fee that accompanies one.
Many horror stories here on the forums about KnifeCenter.
The story that repeats itself here over and over again is:

Bought knife from KC,
it's (blatantly) defective,
return to KC,
KC says its not defective and charges restock fee.

Quite the scam really. Purchase and stock factory seconds (blemishes) and sell them as new until they "stick"
Charge restock fees on returned merchandise repetitively.

People may mutter choice words over a $6 restocking fee never to push the issue further...but KC is making bank doing this on a large scale.

On the other hand, Ill buy a beer for a BHQ employee any day of the week. Any, and I mean any issue that has ever presented itself concerning a BHQ purchase has been eagerly addressed and taken care of here on the forums.

Interesting. Not to defend KC, but according to the official Rockstead website their knives are "factory custom knives."

BHQ charged me $3.6 (?) for returning a CS Recon 1 that had up and down blade play out of the box, which I put right into the box. I don't know what that was about and I did not care to find out. BHQ is still good in my book.

I've used both more so bladehq. Nothing against knifecenter at all. I really like blade's YouTube people so I lean towards them TBH. Both are great!

Thats fine, according to KC so is Pro-tech.
The point being KnifeCenter will charge you a 5% restocking fee upon return of any knife they deem as a mid-tech (semi custom) product Regardless of defect or condition. "If the product proves to be defective, you may be able to locate that manufacturer...."

So in other words, if you receive your "new" Pro-tech switchblade from KnifeCenter and the blade had undeniable blade play when locked open, KC WILL charge you a 5% restocking fee if you decide to return it. Or its up to you to contact the manufacturer.

"We want you to be satisfied with your purchase. If your product proves to be defective or you have used a product for a while and have warranty issues with the manufacturer, you may be able to locate that manufacturer here."

I have purchased several knives from each company and they and knives and transactions have been flawless. No worries dealing with them.
