Buying from bladehq and knifecenter what do you suggest

At this point, any of my future business will lean toward KC, although I have purchased from both Cos with slightly more purchased from BHQ. Here's why FWIW to the powers-that-be:

My last two purchases from BHQ (both Spyderco / BHQ exclusives) did not leave the best of impressions! One was the dreaded Lum Tanto with Hap40 and the other the PM2-M4 DLC. With both purchases I had included a note during the check out to kindly check for centered blades and smooth actions. Needless to say that I was disappointed with both as the both came slightly off center and anything but smooth! I know that the Lum Tanto ended up with so many inherent issues but not so much with the PM2-M4 DLC, which I just got an inferior one despite my notes. While none of these place BHQ at 100% fault, I still feel that my requests were not heeded to. Eventually I did put enough time and effort into getting both of them much more than acceptable although not 100% perfect.

To also be fair to BHQ, I never emailed or picked up the phone to complain to which I am certain they would have addressed my issues in the utmost professional matter. It's just that sometimes trivial matters such as seemingly not paying precise attention a customer's notes, does sway that customer elsewhere. I am hoping that this is a good type of feedback for BHQ to consider along.

I alternate among them and GPKnives.
No issues with international purchases and shipping so far.

Both are solid, and have pretty similar websites; neither will scam you or send a fake, as happens with eBay sellers. I like knifeworks and dlttrading as well, if your looking for production knives and/or exclusives. And of course the exchange here on bladeforums is awesome as well.

I guess my favorite is New Graham in terms of online orders. They are small. I have had no serious issues with KC, BladeHQ, DLT, KSF, or Knifeworks (KW). Trying to remember, I may not have purchased from KW..... I mix it up. It is not really intentional on my part, just the way it works out.

Probably won't be ordering much online from KSF now since their storefront is up and running.

My one complaint about BHQ is out of their hands... but they are in the Bermuda Triangle for package shipping, and even though they get packages in the mail as fast as anyone, it always seems to take about four days to get here. Literally anywhere else CONUS, and it's 2-3 days.

The point being KnifeCenter will charge you a 5% restocking fee upon return of any knife they deem as a mid-tech (semi custom) product

That's ugly. That may also backfire on them. There's a fairly well-known finding in social psychology that as soon as you start charging people in an attempt to disincentivize a behavior, people see that as a fee to cover that behavior. In other words, restocking fee = rental fee, so buying just to try out is fine - the company gets their cut, after all.

I'll buy from KnifeCenter only if GPK, DLT, and BHQ are out of stock.

Knifecenter works great for me after 10 orders or so, so far. I always ask them to inspect the products before shipping them, since it will be quite a loss for me to pay for two more international postage fees (send it back and have them send me another) if something is wrong.
Blade HQ seems a great place with good deals, but unfortunately doesn't ship to my country.

I have purchased many knives from both sites and they are mainly who I use or sometimes bladeops also. Bhq and kc will handpick if you request say, check blade centering, in the comments when ordering. In fact ordered a rat1 in d2 from kc requesting exactly that and they actually emailed me that they had only one left and it was off and if i still wanted to proceed or not so when i called cs they told me centering was pretty far off actually so i ended up cancelling my order w no issues and was refunded. as far as bhq other than one subpar kershaw with a crack on the cf scale down the edge i received but i didnt call and voice the issue either as it was a budget blade. Im sure they would have took care of it thou if i had. Both sites are as legit as it gets imo.

My son and I have bought multiple times from KnifeCenter. Never an issue. They are local to us. We've ordered and had knives delivered, and we've ordered and picked them up at the business' location.

I just purchased a knife from BladeHQ. I ordered online on a Sunday. The order receipt said 24-48 hrs to process. 24 is okay but 48 is a bit long for this day in age. It is not like ordering from Sears or Montgomery Wards from years ago. Things have changed relative to our expectations. They shipped and notified me of the shipment and it just seemed to be stalled in UT. Then I see it was shipped and it appeared quickly via USPS at my home. So, all & all, okay overall.

Have had good experiences with Knife Center. Also have had very good experiences with KSF, DLT, and New Graham.
My experiences with DLT have been superb.

I don't order much from BHQ...not much reason for choosing others over them, I suppose; but there was one time where their customer service FAILED. I contacted them with a question about a knife - response took over a month, and was a recommendation to contact the manufacturer with my question. I was pretty unhappy; but tried to be constructive about it when I got a survey about my experience shortly thereafter.
No problems, ever, with KnifeCenter, KnivesShipFree, or DLT.
