I've head better experiences selling than buying or trading. I take knife conditioning seriously and it's a point of pride when a person who buys a knife from me says it arrived in better than advertised condition.

Unfortunately, not everyone on here operates under the same ethos.

PS. This should be moved to feedback.

I have bought knives on quite a few different forums. I dont anymore because i am simply too picky. And when you are as picky as i am most peoples minty fresh new in a box is used and abused for me. It got to the point with a few purchases that i couldnt tell if it was my picky sensibilities getting the best of me or if the seller was lying or just incredibley inexperienced. So i mostly stick with new knives these days. That way if i get something that has an issue i know who is accountable.

Wowsers man. Me and you never agree but this time what you said really hit home. I too sell under the philosophy that i make all the knives i sell sound worse than they are just so there is never a surprise unless its a good one. I never get top dollar for what i am selling but i also never get a WTH?! Email either.

Every time I've looked for something on the Exchange it has either sold immediately or was at retail prices. I've bought and sold a lot of stuff on free message boards with no hiccups.

One of my first transactions, a trade, the guy gave my neutral feedback because the knife got poked thru the bottom of the sheath somehow during transit.
The guy blamed me for not packing it right, but I used the exact same packing materials he used. If it's good enough for him to send his knife to me, should be good enough for me to send my knife to him, right?
Anyway, I tried to tell him it wasn't my fault and the it was obviously mishandled by the postal service, but I think he still held it against me :(

I've sold several more knives since then and no complaints and no shipping & handling issues.

I've bought a fair number of knives here, and some - including some very inexpensive imports - really opened my eyes to the overwhelming variety of knives available once you look beyond the familiar brand names found at chain retailers. The only problems I've had both involved the USPS either losing (or at least misplacing) money orders, and the sellers in both cases were very willing to hold onto the knives I was buying until the USPS figured things out.

Now I'm to the point where I figure I should upgrade my membership and start selling a few to make room for new purchases.

I bought a lot of knives and traded at the exchange and I will say 98% of them come as described . If the knife is used and the person described it as new I have a hard time keeping it . That happened to me twice once I sent it back with no problem we actually became good friends on the forum .then later on he sold it back to me for a very fair price . the second time the price was right even though it was slightly used . So I let the other forum member know that his description was off he offer to take it back and I kept it .

I've bought quite a few knives from the exchange, traded a few and have sold a few. I also buy from the dealers here more than anywhere else. I just got my Left Handed 25 from KSF.
Can't say I've ever been disappointed with any of the deals I've encountered.

I've bought knives from the exchange and have had good luck so far. However I had one knife taken in a trade when the other party did not follow through with their side of the trade.

I've also had pretty good luck with online auctions.

These days I buy more from the bladeforums exhange than from anywhere else.

I have purchased hundreds in the exchange, more directly from makers in Knife makers section and even more from members in private deals off site. All together I would suggest I have purchased over 300 to date. And at min. 98& trouble free. What I find is even the guys that claim, "not to like you" or who have been problematic in other areas of the forum are absolute gentlemen in the exchange or when money is involved. I am grateful for that, and think of how so much time is wasted creating false fronts and "acting out" in sub forums. I simply do not understand how those who seek friendships and respect in one area, can be so angry in others. I have members contact me regarding knowledge or collecting and then completely deny this in other areas. I keep waiting for the Rooster to crow or 7 pcs of silver to hit the floor. Lol. Bladeforums is the BEST place , Period to buy/sell/or trade knives, packs, lights and gear... the BEST.

I have bought a few from the exchange, Folders and Fixed Blades from Custom Makers
and also from Individuals with NO problem.
I look forward each day to see what is available, it's like being at a Knife Store in
the comfort of my living room while drinking a cup of coffee. :)

Bought more than I remember. I've had some amazing knives thanks to Bladeforums.

Thankfully I've been able to maintain recently- the 3 I currently have are all from Bladeforums.

If I buy any more they'll probably be from here unless it's something unique from a gun store but that hasn't happened in 10 years or more.

I've only bought one from the exchange. It was a couple years ago. A Buck 110 with the blade signed by Chuck Buck from Flatlander 1963. He' a great guy,he mailed the knife on the same day I mailed him a USPS MO and they crossed paths in the mail.

I'm still fairly new here but I really enjoy this forum. I've bought and traded a few thus far but the people I have dealt with up to this point, have been great to do business with. I'm not here to "flip" knives but to find my niche in what I like. The forums make very good reading material for learning and other more experienced members have a great wealth of information beneficial to me. I will continue to buy / trade here (hopefully) for a long time to come.;)

95% of all my KNIVES and Misc items come from here.
Over 350 easy in 11 years.
Im happy to be apart of this community and proud to be a MEMBER...
