I've head better experiences selling than buying or trading. I take knife conditioning seriously and it's a point of pride when a person who buys a knife from me says it arrived in better than advertised condition.

Unfortunately, not everyone on here operates under the same ethos.

PS. This should be moved to feedback.

I have bought knives on quite a few different forums. I dont anymore because i am simply too picky. And when you are as picky as i am most peoples minty fresh new in a box is used and abused for me. It got to the point with a few purchases that i couldnt tell if it was my picky sensibilities getting the best of me or if the seller was lying or just incredibley inexperienced. So i mostly stick with new knives these days. That way if i get something that has an issue i know who is accountable.

Wowsers man. Me and you never agree but this time what you said really hit home. I too sell under the philosophy that i make all the knives i sell sound worse than they are just so there is never a surprise unless its a good one. I never get top dollar for what i am selling but i also never get a WTH?! Email either.

Add me to the list. The few times I've sold on here I've written so much and included so many pics, I almost felt like I was being too harsh on the knives. I take great care to describe, and usually over exaggerate, any flaws and issues to make sure I never run into problems down the road with unhappy buyers. I haven't had any so far.

I had one guy a while back express interest in my beat up old sage 2, and he was all set to buy when I sent him a pic of the blade, trying to make sure I got the worse lighting possible in terms of making scratches stand out. He sent back something to the effect of "ah! That lighting LOL! It makes them look a lot worse than they probably are"

I told him straight up, "No unfortunately this is pretty much how bad they are. I don't want to mislead you."

And he came back with something to the effect of "alright, man. I guess I'm going to have to pass on this one then."

Done, no deal. But the next day it sold to another member that was perfectly happy to buy it, scratches and all. There was no reason to mislead the first guy and force a deal through just to have him be unhappy with it in the end. I don't need the headaches that go along with that crap.

I have picked up some really nice blades on the forums . To date I have not been involved in a bad deal concerning the knives I have made or ones from my personal collection. I feel it is a great resource for people .

I have bought a half dozen or so and will buy more. The Exchange is awesome because the knives I prefer are hard to find (older and limited CRKs) and they regularly pop up here with enough frequency to keep me interested in looking.:)

Most deals were good, but I have a couple that I would say are not "exactly as described". Well, it's not that anyone was dishonest, but when you say LNIB and charge top dollar for a knife that has lock stick (even though I'm sure it did have the lock stick while NIB)....I would really rather that the description said, "Lock is a bit sticky". If it was stated I'd most likely still buy the knife. Knowing about it upfront wouldn't bother me afterword. I am now wary of anybody that says, "It's exactly the way it shipped from CRK". What does that mean, exactly? LOL

When you have less than 10 for a feedback score it's wise to buck-up and shut-up. I've kept a couple of items that weren't really pleasing because I'm afraid of feedback problems that could keep me from buying a knife I must have in the future.

That being said, I bought two Annuals from one fellow in particular. He said the knives were NIB, and they actually were. What a gentleman. 10+ year old knives that didn't even have wear on the thumb studs. He also shipped immediately and was very communicative.

I'm still new at this, but now I try to buy ONLY knives that say NIB and go for top dollar. Seems to be more likely that you will get what you expect. LNIB usually means that there is a "less than desirable" production artifact or that the knife is slightly used, but these things aren't stated outright. Hopefully more buying will prove this to be rare.

The Exchange is great and has been a lot of fun.

Bought, Sold & Traded ALL good. Never a bad experience outstanding members all a credit to the community.

I've had excellent luck buying and selling on BF, but much of my "luck" stems from not buying from new sellers no matter how good the deal looks. And whether buying or selling, having great communication in the thread before the transaction is executed can really help insure a good outcome. But I love buying on BF and have never encountered a knucklehead even once.

I have had good luck too for the most part when I buy items. Nothing really went sideways in a deal, some of the international deals when I shipped a knife had me worries. It all worked out. I pretty much follow the formula that many do, but from well established people that have a good track record.

I haven't been here long, but I've purchased some knives here with no problems at all. Everyone I've dealt with has been great (with spot on descriptions and good photos in their sale's post) and I've been delighted with all my purchases, users included. One of the knives I bought was from a maker in Transylvania, Romania and it showed up without a hitch.

I love buying knives on the exchange. There are some good deals to be had and some hard to find knives at fair prices. I've had some really nice guys PM me and offer me some great deals on rare knives they know I was interested in. How cool is that?

If anyone will trade knives for blood, I'm B Positive and I have a kidney I can spare, too.

I've only purchased new knives from folks on the knifemakers selling forum. All positive experiences so far.

I only buy user knives, no art knives or shelf queens.

Plan on buying more as time goes by but most likely only directly fom the makers.

I joined this forum with the sole intent of selling off a few knives that could not be listed on e-bay. The 1'st transaction went well. The 2'nd went great except for one thing.....instead of selling I BOUGHT another knife. I now fear I will end up buying more and more .A word of caution to new members. This place can be addicting.

Been new here all good experiences so far! Bought a couple. Plan on buying more. Selling will be on the agenda next.

I try to buy as much as I can on the exchange, before going to a dealer. Not only it saves me a few bucks, but also helps interact with some of the best forum members'. Barring an odd or two experience, all have been smooth, easy, and top notch.

I just purchased a sweet little Kershaw Rainbow Chive from PinkmagicK, and I've just got to give a shout out cause he was so awesome to deal with! Pink was so accommodating- it truly is easier to resolve minor or major conflicts by being kind and treating others as we want to be treated. I hope to contribute to the positive experiences that people have here, and I'm excited to buy more knives!

I buy sell and trade here. I would recommend it to anyone. Just read the rules and follow common sense and most transaction will run flawlessly. This has proven to be a great community for me over the past several years.

This is a great place to buy, trade, and sell knives. No place is perfect but this place is outstanding.
