buying LE ZT and sell it,,, can this make money?

ZT has transformed in 2016 with resulting effects on LE pricing. ZT hasn't produced very many new production models in 2016. If you look closely at the 2016 regular/catalog models out of the 6 only 4 are really new (0095 and 0450 had existed before). There has been an accelerated production of Sprint & Dealer Runs (14 in all!). The old Limited Editions are no longer so cache when you consider 4 of 7 are repititions of 0392! Lots of jewels in the Sprint Runs pending the 2017 SHOW Show releases next month.

Bodog, did you have a bad holidays :p

You've been more critical lately. I see you in the Spyderco forum too. Problem is, they're a lot more open to criticism over there... You'll get your butt banned here (not that you care).

Well, I tried with facts, constructive criticisms and such rational arguments.

As in all things, it takes money to make money.

But, anytime you turn a hobby into a revenue stream, it destroys your love of the hobby, IMO.

The market as a whole is down at the moment. People are tired of paying inflated secondary prices for knives.

The secondary market prices stayed up because people were confident if they bought, they could get their money back out. It was a symbiotic relationship between the seller and buyer. That relationship is getting more and more tenuous as inflated secondary market knives sit unsold, buyers become less confident that they would get their money back so they hold the purse strings which just makes it sit longer and perpetuates it.

The bubble is deflating.

People can go back to buying knives they like now hopefully.

The overpriced secondary market pricing has been highly prevalent. Granted!

Personally, even quality knives are overpriced across the sprectrum.

There are lots of well built knives with high quality materials in the $150-$250 price range on the primary market.

My persuasion is to have people looking for quality knives to stay in that range.

As a result, every now and then, there would be an extremely good deal for one of those (any) nice pieces, from frustrated sellers stuck with inventory concerns that they might not sell for retail let alone markup.

That's where I pop in to help at deep discount. Yay me.

This is super awesome, if I'm being honest. I keep seeing all these guys on IGs, who are total unknowns, who slap together two Ti slabs along with some poorly (or ridiculously) ground blade, and then are like "Only $450 bucks!!" The market is becoming saturated with such things, and all the while, the big knife companies were creeping up the side-street on quality to the point where you really can't justify many of these customs based on a perception of superior quality over productions. ZT, Spyderco, even some of Benchmade's offerings are flawless. I personally do not support Chinese knife companies*, but the quality they are producing also can't be denied. So, at what point does paying several hundred dollars for a custom (which in many cases isn't a custom you had input on, just a suuuper small run of a knife the guy made) make any sense?

The only custom folders I own are Olamics, because personally I don't see the value in what most others are making whereas for me, these are perfect and exceptional. That's just me, though.

Thankfully, people are starting to wake up, and maybe that means the prices will come back from la-la-land. Oh, and finally, anything that hurts scalpers gives me a huge case of the warm and fuzzies. :)

Because some people don't know beauty even when it runs over and sits on their face. ;)
It sold out at Warriors and Wonders in Canada in less than 2 days, and was going for $575 Canadian.

^ Some people do know beauty...even when it runs over and sits on their face!
I wish that I could post a picture...the ZT 0392wc doesn't even come close! :D

And if I may add: $575??? My goodness, what in the heck is the US-CAD exchange rate, presently?

In response to the OP's question: A $35 profit is not worthy IMO, factoring in all of the risks involved. FWIW: I had zero problems immediately grasping the initial question you posed, prior to you editing your OP this morning; but then again I happen to be an exceptionally bright person.

I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this before, as I'm typically a rather shy and humble person: I am a member of the Mensa International Organization. :cocksure:

Was the distinction between "the" and "thee" overlooked in the table entrance exam?

On topic, production knives >>limited or otherwise<< are probably not a good long-term investment.

In reference to Sprint Runs / Dealer Exclusives , is there a list of dealers where & when they will be available ?

Well, dealer exclusives are exactly that. In 2016, there were 0450SIG through SIG Arms and 0808ML through SMKW.

Sprint Runs were widely available through most ZT dealers in the U.S. in 2016.

ZT LE were only available through 6 ZT dealers in the U.S. in 2016.
