I'm curious as to how many of y'all buy your knives online (Ebay, amazon, manufacturers website..etc).

I've bought a few knives online that I had previously owned before and either lost, or they broke, but I'm just not sure I could buy a knife without handling it first.

I'd like to hear of some of your online buying experiences..Thanks!

All of my knives are purchased online now. The high end brands that I use aren't available in stores, at least none of the stores near me.

Every single folder I've owned is from an online retailer. I don't really know of many places around here where I could handle high-end folders, other than knife shows, which I usually can't attend. Even knives from Spyderco and Benchmade are very rare, and overpriced when purchased locally.

I buy most of them online.

Some through major dealers and some amazon.

Had great experiences from all my online purchases.

Some online retailers , some here on the exchange , some directly from makers/manufactures , and some from local stores !!!

All purchased online, including knives acquired on the BF Exchange. My local cutlery shop charges MSRP plus some.

The local places are few and usually don't stock what I want, so it's all online.

I am always sure to ask around here and look at You Tube vids as I "research" whatever it is that I am considering.

I buy nearly all my knives on line. I am envious of those who have a decent brick and mortar store with an hours driving distance.

I'm an "all online" guy, too. If I'm ever unsure about some aspect of a knife I'm considering, I'll search here on BF to see what people's experiences have been and read some reviews (the reviews section here, reviews on Knifecenter's product pages, Kniferating.com, etc.). This method hasn't let me down yet!

Buy all of my knifes online either ebay, this forum or other forums. There are very few places locally that sell Spyderco and Cold Steel and the ones that do charge between 25-40% more than online; I wouldn't mind paying 10-15% more than online to support the local stores but the markup is ridiculous...I understand that brickNmorters have to make money but it's hard to get any repeat business if everything is marked up very high.

Unless it's for food I never step a foot in a store anymore. Everything is shopped for and bought on line.

:D I appreciate all the feedback guys...I feel a lot better now placing orders on a few knives that I've been considering.

Neuron- You're right, the information that can be obtained from this forum is absolutely amazing.:thumbup:

Ono, depending on where in NC you are, I can point you In a few directions of good stores that sell high end knives.

Turk- I'm in Raleigh, There's a Davi's and a Dicks Sporting Goods, but if you know of some other places, it would be greatly appreciated :D

Then your probably know right where I am. Just outside Garner In Johnston County. (I could throw a rock and hit 40/42)

I was going to recommend Davi's but I guess you have already been there. There are dealers down here that are willing to barter as well.

Anyway, Gander Mountain has a GREAT selection of Buck, and Kershaw, and the REI Outdoors at Crossroads Carries Leatherman, High end Benchmade, and CRKT.

There Is also a gun shop In Fuquay Varina that sells Spyderco and Benchmade.

There's a Gander Mountain as soon as you get into Greensboro while traveling west on I40 I believe. Also theres some places in Winston Salem, Siler City and the like that sell high end knives, and if you can wait for the gun shows there's typically one or two vendors with both C&E and the Dixie that have higher end knives. Those folks are mostly from out west near Charlotte tho.

Haven't had much luck at that REI at crossroads, they're an MSRP place. Davi's is the only place in Raleigh that I know of that consistently stocks higher end customs and the like.

The Gander Mtn. In Greensboro is the one I was talking about. I love the store but I hope they took my recommendations to the Manager for granted. They used to have the knives out In cases where people could hold them and see If they liked them. Since then they changed the layout where they are all packaged. Hopefully he was not BS'ing when he said he would change It back.

As for REI, a membership goes a loooooong way with them, pretty much the only way to get a discount. And I still don't buy knives there.

George, are you In the Raleigh area? Welcome to the forum!

ONO, do you like Case knives? If so I have a recommendation for you that Is In Smithfield.
