Buying toys online to make yourself feel good.

You just keep telling yourself that, brother. But when you are ready to drop the denial stuff, we'll be here for you.

Looks a LOT like part of my safe! LOL But I guess denial ain't just a river eh?! Hey, they're tools! We need 'em!!!:D

As soon as I receive some toys in the mail, I start plotting my next purchase. It may be an awesome Fenix PD35 light. Flashlight hoarding was probably my first addiction, and later I got into firearms, knives, SAKs and MTs. Well, that's not completely true. Before I starting collecting flashlights, I filled my freezer with drifters that I picked up at the bus station, but I don't really consider that hoarding. So yeah, flashlights were first.

I feel your pain. I used to pick fights... In my line of work, it's like pickin' low hangin' fruit. Nowadays, it's gadgets. It usually fluctuates from guns, knives flashlights, etc. It went back to guns & ammo back in February when the wife got her c&c permit. Then, went back to knives, until last week. Now just Tuesday, our governor signed a new c&c law into effect, so I'm lookin' to add a fde glock 26 to the fold. Even though I'm 98% sure it won't, my justification is it might replace my PM9 as edc. LOL

yes, why yes i do

3 weeks ago it was car parts
2 weeks ago was smaller knives than i usually carry
this week is flashlights, got the surfire fury, kluars st11, and a streamlight protac hl...

i look forward to next week :)

Knives, jackets, Invicta watches, and just got my first pair of Ray Ban prescription sunglasses--how I lived without those I'll never know.

I do, alot of tactical nylon gear, jackets, knives, but I also just buy toys (not that type). They are my way to escape sometimes.

The lego Star Wars "pizza" ship was going for like $3000 on ebay bnib.

As far as my latest acquisition, it is a 3 piece bespoke grey pinstripe suit. I will need it soon for my proposal defense.

Whomever created the idea of "Prime" for Amazon was an evil genius. However, lately I have noticed fewer Prime items available and certain larger prime items have a larger price premium for next day shipping. Everything used to be an additional $3.99.

I used to think I had a problem, until Jeff Clark mentioned several years ago that he has an entire garage full of knives. So I choose to think that I don't have a problem until I get to that level. :D Of course, he justified it because he does a lot of charity work with soup kitchens, sharpening knives for others, etc. And I enabled him by agreeing that it was entirely reasonable. :D

One thing that has helped me is to put everything that I want to buy on a list, keep it updated, then after several months, if I still want it, then go ahead and get it. You'd be surprised how much stuff looks silly 6 months later, and I'm glad that I saved my money.

Hello--My name is Teddy and I am a tool/materials junkie. I just go to EBay or Amazon when I need a 'fix'. Am I ever going to use the 30 pr of Missouri walnut scales I bought in my lifetime, or the 30 bandsaw blades. No, never. I usually 'pay it forward' and give stuff away. This may sound silly to some, but the 'giving' is what makes me feel good.

AND A CURSE ON CREDIT CARDS. ...Teddy

What have you guys ordered, or are thinking about ordering, that you don't really need? Fess up.

Practically everything I own falls into that category, including a sportscar, F350 pickup, motorcycle, kid, and a dog. More recently a Fender Stratocaster, new rod and reel, new computer, and a dozen or so knives for the collection.

:D

Knives, jackets, Invicta watches, and just got my first pair of Ray Ban prescription sunglasses--how I lived without those I'll never know.

I have had Raybans, Oakleys, Bolle, etc. I will say this the Oakleys are by the the best with no comparison in terms of what you get if you are active, they just stay in place no matter what with some of the materials they use and everything just seems crystal clear even in comparison to the other high end sunglasses. An interesting little thing I have noticed too is if you wear polarized sunglasses when it's raining it will actually give you far bigger field of view (assuming light is out) as it will cut out a lot of the light being reflected off the rain (hopefully I described it right, but there is a noticeable difference anyway). Though i will admit the Raybans were probably the comfiest pair of sunglasses I have owned.

And if you haven't already take a look at some of the citizen eco-drive watches, I love mine. I was getting into watches and decided to get one of the cheapest eco-drive watches to test it out before moving up to one of the titanium models but after owning it I don't think there is a watch that will suit me more unless they make one without the day of the week and date on it, so all I am left with is a clean face on the watch. BM8180-03 if your curious as to what I am wearing (not recommending this one as I imagine we all have different tastes, go with what suits you)

No, I just have the poly bags of each. The AT-ST UCS has a few issue staying together, however I will be incorperating the poly build AT-ST into the new Ewok village that I will be getting Sept 1st. Currently in the mail are TWO back to the future Delorean sets, the new AT-TE, and of course the republic gunship. Since the legos seem to be popular here you go.

Do you guys ever just buy cr@p online that you don't need just to make yourself feel good?

Of course you do. Me too. All of the time. Thats why I have 100+ knives, maybe 50 SAKs and MTs, perhaps 20 Maxpedition products and all kinds of other stuff.

Today, for no particular reason other than that I have a Visa gift card and enjoy feeling good, I ordered from Amazon the following:

- Cold Steel large Espada G10, $99 [the recent Nutnfancy review pushed me over the edge]

- blue Streamlight Stylus Pro pen light, $20 (already have a red one)

- Schrade "tactical" pen with 2x Parker refills $25

- Victorinox Classic SD, black, $12 (I already have probably 15x of these, and I recognize that ordering this one demonstrates severe mental illness)

I don't need any of these suckers. But it feels dang good to order them, and between now and Wednesday I'll be looking forward to their arrival.

What have you guys ordered, or are thinking about ordering, that you don't really need? Fess up.

Lack of restraint and materialism at its best.
