Did an impromptu camping trip with the family over the weekend. I forgot how much more work it is to bring the family along versus just grabbing a pack and hitting the trails solo. Still made for a good time and the kids had a blast. I meant to at least get some good knife photography out of the deal but only managed to get a few shots. It was freaking hot and my motivation levels were rather low.... Was way easier to sit in the shade and drink a few cold ones.

That 12 is coming along rather nicely!

I know what you mean Paddy when it comes to camping with the family. Lots more work. Haha. Good stuff though! My kids love to camp. Making memories makes it all worth it.
How you liking that 12?

Hey guys, sorry I been in and out. Dubz! Hey congrats on the new fiefdom!

Johnny I didn't forget you, I have it boxed up just life has been "hectic" to say the least. Been playing babysitter A LOT lately. I finally have a day to myself but it's all spent at work. I BELIEVE it's a large size but I've never compared it to Murph or Dex's so I'm not 100% on that.

There is a local marinade company called Andrias, it's "alright" but too salty for me. I had some SmokeyC's sauce that was REAL good, the white sauce was awesome on chicken. Probably was one of the best. But I also cooked it sous vide in the sauce then smoked it for 2 hours. It turned out PERFECT!

Break out some more sauce, got one more bone over here! DANG son that looks good! I was thinking I might do some spaghetti with sausage, peppers, and onions for dinner. Bring the left overs to work with me tomorrow (unless I have a midnight snack tonight!)

Indeed it is, it has certainly become a favorite.

Despite the added stress, I wouldn't trade it for the world. If the kids are happy in the woods and away from screens for awhile, then I count that as a success.

The 12 is a fantastic knife, it is made even better with 91bravo 91bravo 's special touches. It really fits that size niche just about perfectly for me. My last serious outing, the only two knives I really ended up using were the 9 and the 12, I could do just about everything with those two blades. I know a lot of folks swear by the 9 and 16 combo and though I do like the 16, I actually find it almost uncomfortably small. Though my hands are probably not as big as The Warrior The Warrior 's, they are still pretty large and the 16 doesn't fill the hand very well. That being said, when I just want to throw a small knife on a daypack and go, it is hard to beat the 16 in terms of its compact size and the fact that it can be far less intimidating to the masses.

On my last outing, I took the 9, 10, 11, 12, and 16. My brother used the 10 the whole trip and I pretty much exclusively used the 9 and the 12. I found that I didn't have a need for the other knives. The 9 did the heavy lifting and the 12 took care of everything else and I never felt that I needed anything smaller. I couldn't be happier with that combo.

I like doing the beer can chicken thang. I actually use a can of orange soda.

I got off work 2 hours early to work on the car. Got a police notice in the mail Saturday, that said I had to prove it runs. Installed a new battery, but what a pain in the ass it is to do in a Sebring.

I survived the family reunion - and they survived me......
now I get to do it all over again this weekend -- only with the in-laws....
