C101XHP - Foliage Green Manix2 with CTS-XHP

Hard to say whether this will be like the original denim blue D4 ZDP-189 sprint, which went into full production with a different color FRN, or whether this will be like the Military/Para-Military CPM-D2 sprints, which did not. Personally, I'd grab one while you can. The original D4 ZDP sprint sells above its original street price, even though you can buy production versions.

yea i know it was a hard decison but i really like good steels on my knife.. not to say this wont be but at this point it's unknown. why i was hoping some1 had a job somewhere and put it to good use by now. i was hoping for a steel that would hold up better then cpm s30v or cpm d2.

the manufacturer of it desrcibes it as
either a high hardness Type 440C stainless steel or a corrosion resistant D2 tool steel

Got my manix 2 foliage in the mail today... Managed to give myself a little cut already haha. Pulled down on the ball bearing cage but didn't expect the knife to swing to the close position so quickly, my finger was in the way and the weight of the blade + it's razor sharpness gave me a nice clean cut.

Funny mine is a little tight and doesn't swing shut on its own. Might have to do with the lock engagement. Seems to vary a bit. Beautiful knife. Part of the edge had a little burr that came right off on a leather strop.

man this is a hard decision because i like the design of the knife so much.. but i'm a steel junky. i really don't want anything less then cpm-d2 . i may be may be making a bad decision but i'm sure they will come out with another sprint run.

The design does speak for itself I agree. What makes you think this knife is "something less than CPM-D2"? I mean, D2 is a great steel, but it has been known to chip with moderate/hard use (just like ZDP-189). If the blade had a stamp that said CPM-D2 and not XHP (but it really was XHP) would you really be able to tell the difference? I ask because I sure couldn't. But if you can, that is impressive. Can't be that bad if it's being used on some of the $600 Hinderer knives ;)

Quick question for anyone who has a manix 2. Does the blade have any side to side play in the closed position? For me the lockup is perfectly solid when open but for some reason when it's closed there's some side to side play. Just wondering if this is normal.

also if the blade ever were to get loose in the open position is it possible to fix it by tightening the pivot screw?

Thanks guys

Both of my manix 2 have side to side play in the closed position. Green and blue are both tight when in the open position. Only thing I can think of is it is a product of the locking mechanism used.

My first manix experience was about a month ago, I learned that if you adjust the pivot too much one one side or the other, it will make teh blade off center (in my case it did). I think those knives have a pivot bushing, not just a a set screw. I could be a bit off, just speaking from ym experience, ymmv.

What is the benefit of having a pivot bushing instead of just a normal set screw?

Not sure, I think it may have soemthing to with less friction at the pivot point allowing for smoother opening. That would be my guess.

a pivot bushing allows you to tighten the pivot of the knife as much as you want, and it doesnt make the blade and harder to open, i personally like it. the para 2 will have it. and the sebenza has it as well :D
