C101XHP - Foliage Green Manix2 with CTS-XHP

I haven't had an opportunity to get started testing the steel yet but the build quality, alignment, lockup, grinds and finish are nothing less than excellent. The Golden made knives compare well with any coming out of any manufacturers that I've done business with.

Eric, congratulations on another excellent knife. Looking forward to the next. Joe

Thanks for all the good photos and comparison pics!

Decided I won't be getting this one, too small. Excellent knife no doubt but I'll probably start saving up for a Ti Millie at this point.

Just got mine in and I am really impressed with it. The grips seem grippier than my UKPK and the fit and finish is better than I expected. The blade is dead center when closed. The thing that struck me is how large the knife is compared to my PK. I might post pics later but there are so many already. The only question left is what the final build tally is, was it a 1000?

I received one yesterday and shipping notice for another today. Looks like another winner out of Golden, glad I was able to pick up an extra for a user. Compares well with the CF/S90V models in quality.

I goofed a pre-order and wound up with two as well, but like you I was so impressed that I'm keeping the other. As you say, it's easily as nice as the S90V sprint. But, to me, the thing that's even more impressive is how nice the "regular" version is, and you can buy that for around $80 street price, which is a lot of knife for the dollar and (thinking of another thread here) a real credit to Sal, Eric and everyone who works for Spyderco here.

I have been playing with mine all day long now. I am still on the fence whether it will be a user or a collector. I think it will be a light user if that makes any sense. One thing that blows me away is how smooth the lock is. I like the lock so much it looks like I am going to have to get a P'kal. I am totally impressed with it but it is a little too large for an EDC for me. No worries, it will always be riding with me in my truck.

Mine showed up today. Very nice, but larger than I anticipated, so I don't think I'll carry it every day (boycott the term "EDC" for a better Bladeforums:thumbup:). That's alot of knife for 3 inches of cutting edge... when closed it's even broader than the Para. I love the caged ball lock (my first), it seems super strong. Appreciate all that jimping. Ergonomics are fantastic, both with a normal(?) grip and using the forward choil. I obviously can't comment on the steel yet, but I'm sure I'll be impressed with it once I log some hours using and sharpening it. Okay, enough talk for now... hopefully you'll enjoy these way-too-big quickie pics.

i just passed up getting the ritter m4 griptillian because i like this knife so much more.

now some1 go beat the piss of the steel so i can see how it holds up... come on now guys i got very little time to get in on this :). as long as it is like cpm-d2 or alittle better i'm sold on a new carry. so go cut up 100 boxes or a tree for me :)

I don't think you can wait for reviews; if you don't already have one on the way, you're going to end up getting one on the secondary market.

After all the whining about missing them, I now have mine in hand. F&F are out of this world, and I'm very excited to find out what CTS-XHP can do. Thanks to everyone who helped me find one!

I carried mine today and it's outstanding. I ended up cutting up about 10 medium/large cardboard boxes. The edge still feels really sharp. I also, gummed up the blade with the tape on the boxes, I sprayed a little goo gone and the blade cleaned up terrificly.

I agree, but I think it's spelled "$econdary" ?

;)

Actually, with a run of 1k, I am wondering if it will be a replay of the D2 Para? I hope not :barf: because I hate to see sprint runs do anything other than succeed.

i just bought one off the exchage :D i'm super excited for it to come! i've never really had a super/exotic steel (idk if i count s30v as such) so I'm excited to try it out. I was kind of worried about it being a little too big for what I like, but i figured if i dont like it i can easily resell it or trade it.

man this is a hard decision because i like the design of the knife so much.. but i'm a steel junky. i really don't want anything less then cpm-d2 . i may be may be making a bad decision but i'm sure they will come out with another sprint run.

Just recieved mine today!! Wow this thing is built like a custom blade! Does anyone know the significance of the "E" looking logo on the other side of the blade by the spyderhole?

Hard to say whether this will be like the original denim blue D4 ZDP-189 sprint, which went into full production with a different color FRN, or whether this will be like the Military/Para-Military CPM-D2 sprints, which did not. Personally, I'd grab one while you can. The original D4 ZDP sprint sells above its original street price, even though you can buy production versions.
