This has very little Becker content, so if the mods wanna delete it, feel free. I did take my BK9, and it sliced through small saplings with a single blow with no problems. I didn't get any photos, however. I only got one shot of the 9 for another task.

Cleared some trees and brush out behind the cabin. I kind of left the trunks high, so I would have something to hold onto while navigating the rocky slope.

Looking up behind the cabin. Right behind the brush is some cool rock outcroppings. I think I'm gonna clear this area out for one, so trees don't fall on the cabin, but also because I think it will look nice:

There's two small trees next to the water tank, that I'm thinking about cutting to about 6 or so feet high, and making a table between them for a place to put the camp stove. There's some brick in a pile right there, so I'm thinking of using them for a platform to stand on:

4.png

The trees appear to be dying anywhos:

That dead tree in the upper left is a concern. I need to get my chainsaw up there, and get some work done:

6.png

Got a fire going:

7.png

Sun setting behind the hill. That cut of tree is driving me crazy. Gonna be firewood before too long:

Getting ready to do some dogs over the fire:

First hot dog over the fire. Woo hoo:

Wife getting some java going:

Sun up, coming over the hill:

15.png

Smoke rings, haha:

14.png

The 2 bent over saplings need to come down. I'm gonna selectively thin that side of the hill out:

16.png

The nice thing about them, is that they did hide the power lines:

17.png

Yet blocked the view out over the river valley. The power lines kinda screw the scenery up a bit, but, it is what it is:

Zoomed in:

Looking down the lane from the driveway:

Walking down to the river:

Blackberries for days:

Wife picked a few. She's gonna make a few blackberry scones with em:

Climbed up the hill a bit behind the cabin. This is the view from there:

Getting the bacon going:

32.png

Wife gave me a spatula, but I preferred a sharpened stick:

33.png

Worked great:

Potatoes in the bacon grease:

35.png

Oh yeah:

We went for a short jaunt. There's an opening in the trees, going down the lane. This is the view from there:

To the highway:

Millstream Gardens is just a few miles away:

Went for a very short hike:

Cute little guy. Keep looking, you'll see it:

The shut ins. This is a beautiful area. We're looking forward to going back, and spending some time there:

Not sure what kind of rock in the strata, but it's pretty cool:

Looking down the river. I guess they have a big kayak race here every year in March:

Back at the cabin. Finally, a little Becker content. There's an old split rail fence there. Honestly, it's old, and needs torn down, but it'll do for the time being. This post had fallen out of the concrete it was set in. Over time, it has gotten swollen from water and decay. I used the old niner to shave some off, to fit back in the hole:

Got it back in. Like I said, it all needs to come down. It wouldn't stop anyone from falling over the edge, but at least it lets you know that the edge is there:

This is the river valley taken from the road. My cabin is about 2/3rds of the way up, on the right hand side:

We had a good time. Thanks for looking.

Nice pics! Having a cabin like that to go away to in weekends is pretty much a dream for me. Nice job, nice location. Thanks for sharing!

The red band in the rock you took a pic of gets its colour because of iron content (in the past, it could be long gone, but the colour remains). If that particular layer contained some sort of iron/metal and was at some time prone to oxidation, it changed the colour of that particular layer. The layer gets covered again, compression, becomes rock, yadda yadda, but the colour remains visible.

Wow Warrior! Looks like a good escape. Congrats again man and thanks for sharing.
Thanks man. We love it there.

Thanks man. Iron, gotcha. It was really cool. Almost looked man made, haha.

Thanks for the pics Dubz.
That's a great place you've got there!

wow man... beautiful land there. great pics as usual. You and Mrs. Dubz are going to make some great memories there i'm sure. thank you for sharing. Is there enough room for a Becker Midwest? :)

Thanks guys, appreciate it.

Thanks man. No, there really isn't. I could get maybe 4 cars in the drive. About it.

I assume you're talking about millstream gardens in MO? I was once an avid kayaker and am familiar with the area. I have a plot of land near silver mines just outside of Fredericktown. :)

I sure am. The cabin isn't far from Fredericktown.

Beautiful landscape Warrior. The river looks so tranquil. Awesome cabin man!

You'll need to Photoshop a BK-9 into one of the pics. :D

Nice outing.

Wow you definitely have some beautiful country there. Nice to see you've started on the clearing of the deadfall and breaking some trails. Definitely some great potential on that land, and the surrounding area is very scenic. I hope you keep us posted on your progress!
